Oktoberfest is upon us – a time for full pints, German fare, and a celebration of Bavarian culture. Every year around six million people from around the world travel to Munich for Oktoberfest, the world’s largest folk festival. Oktoberfest Celebrations & Events
Want to throw an amazing Oktoberfest party? Then join The Travelling Café October 1 for a culinary exploration of classic German dishes. Enjoy breads, beer, brats, and other Oktoberfest favorites with hands-on instructions from Resident Teaching Chef Bruce Pressey. Local breweries are celebrating Oktoberfest as well. Family-and pet-friendly brewpub Red Moose Brewing Company will host their Oktoberfest celebration on September 24th, and Carolina Brewery & Grill is set to unveil their Oktoberfest lager and menu September 26. Both locations offer welcoming patios perfect for appreciating high-quality craft beers and flights, live music, and crisp fall weather.
Breweries, Bars, & Bottle Shops
Our area is home to a variety of beer gardens and bars, craft breweries, and bottle shops. On Food Truck Fridays, visit Thirsty Skull Brewing in Siler City for craft beer, live music, and a rotating selection of local food trucks. Ask the team to suggest a fall beer to enjoy indoors or in their outdoor patio space.
Pittsboro’s neighborhood bar, City Tap, offers $1 off bottled beer on Mondays and live music on the weekends. Other bars and beer gardens offering local brews and bites include Gov’s Burgers & Taps, Town Hall Burger & Beer, and Roost Beer Garden at Fearrington Village.
Tour the Plant, Pittsboro’s eco-industrial park, and discover craft beverage producers Fair Game Beverage Company, Starrlight Mead, bmc brewing, and Chatham Cider Works. Savvy shoppers can save on Social Sundays, when participating businesses offer specials on purchases of $5 or more. bmc brewing events include $5 beer pints on Mondays, salsa dancing, open mic nights, and Friday tours. Explore the brewery and tap room, discover the history behind the space, and finish your tour with a flight of on-site brewed beers.
Farm Boy Farms offers local hops and malts to homebrewers and microbreweries across North Carolina. The Pittsboro farm also hosts Hop Harvest Parties, free farm-to-brewery events for all ages.
