NC Birding Trail

DESCRIPTION

Explore eight NC Birding Trail sites in Chatham County: five at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, as well as sites at White Pines Nature Preserve, Jordan Lake Educational State Forest, and B. Everett Jordan Lake Dam, Tailrace, and Visitor Assistance Center. From lush oak and hickory forests to serene lakeshores, each site provides unique opportunities for birding and wildlife photography. You’ll spot Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Double-crested Cormorants, Brown-headed Nuthatches, osprey, and Pileated Woodpeckers throughout the year, along with wintering waterfowl and neotropical migratory songbirds.
