Historic sites

Our area is 707 square miles, with trails, farmland, and lake views (some roads, see water on both sides). Explore sites on the National Register of Historic Places, from bridges to rails to trails. A North Carolina scenic byway named for a local lore and a museum in a central landmark, our historic county courthouse are also some of our favorite places to see.

A farm heritage park that hosts an ever-evolving festival (almost five decades) celebrating old-fashioned lifestyle, life on the farm, and antique farm equipment is a must-see year-round venue, with guests making it a tradition. Tour a town with a venue, antiques shop, a couple local eateries, a mural, and an annual festival that heralds more than a century of history.
