Need help brainstorming ideas for a magical night out? Our area offers a selection of varied restaurants, eclectic shops, and romantic experiences that are sure to impress that special someone:

An Indulgent Local Wine Tasting & Picnic
Romantic foodies can savor handcrafted local wines at FireClay Cellars in Siler City. The unique vineyard is named for the bright red, mineral-rich clay that produces their flavorful, sustainably-farmed grapes.

Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy on the winery’s porch, patio, or indoor spaces, all overlooking the picturesque vineyard. Pack your picnic basket with local favorites like chèvre goat cheese from Celebrity Dairy and accoutrement from Southern Supreme for a charcuterie board authentic to Chatham County that will create a lasting local memory.

A Morning Meandering through downtown Pittsboro
Pittsboro has been listed as one of the 14 Best Small Cities for a First Date by Dating Advice, so, daytime date downtown is ideal for quiet weekend mornings and early birds. Kick off the day with a coffee and pastry from Aromatic Roasters. Coffee enthusiasts will delight in this small-batch coffee roaster and café, the NC State Fair blue-ribbon holder (multiple-year winner) for best cup! Enjoy a cup and conversation inside, in a cozy corner, or outdoors, in the small patio space.

Grab some much-needed caffeine and, next, choose to spend your day perusing one of our weekly farmers’ markets. Discover fresh produce, meat, eggs, cheeses, and baked goods at the Chatham Mills (Saturdays), Pittsboro (Thursdays), and Fearrington Farmers’ Markets (Tuesday). Downtown Pittsboro also offers a variety of charming shops to explore –  French Connections, Screaming For Vintage, Chocolate Cellar Deux, and New Horizons Downtown are just a couple of community favorites. For a sweet conclusion to your morning out, share a milkshake or old-fashioned banana split at the nostalgic S&T’s Soda Shoppe.

A Relaxing Afternoon in Nature
Adventurous spirits should visit Bynum’s Lower Haw River State Natural Area for kayaking, canoeing, and scenic hikes. The natural treasure is one of the most popular destinations for paddlers in the Piedmont and is home to steep slopes, rocky outcrops, and rare species. Regional outfitters Frog Hollow Outdoors, Endor Paddle, and Haw River Canoe & Kayak offer guided trips and rental equipment for a relaxing, worry-free experience.

Cap an afternoon of paddling by refueling with bold, seasonal dishes from Café Root Cellar. Chef Sera Cuni elevates American cuisine to new heights with her “go big or go home” attitude. Opt for a casual dining experience with a lively atmosphere at Carolina Brewery & Grill, also in Pittsboro, for burgers, wings, and award-winning local beer.

Our area is a wonderful destination for your first date. We look forward to helping you plan.
