Southern Supreme Fruitcake and More

DESCRIPTION

Southern Supreme Fruitcake and More began in 1984 with a nutty fruitcake recipe. The business started in a garage that was converted into a kitchen, and with help from family and friends, a successful mail-order business was launched. Today, their gourmet foods are shipped globally. Visit, taste, and shop for their signature nutty fruitcake, cookies, jam, nuts, chocolate, gift baskets, holiday items, and more.

PARKING AND DIRECTIONS

Southern Supreme sits in Bear Creek, a rural community in southwest Chatham County, so plan for a scenic drive. The simplest way to find it is to enter “1699 Hoyt Scott Road, Bear Creek” into your GPS or map app, which will route you directly to the front door. Take the N.C. Scenic Byway, Devil’s Tramping Ground Road, between Bear Creek and Pittsboro, to explore fall color, road trips, country miles, and plenty of southern food and hospitality along the way.

Southern Supreme has its own on-site parking lot, with accessible parking near the entrance. Parking is free.

ACCESSIBILITY

Southern Supreme is broadly accessible to visitors using mobility devices, with several features that make a visit manageable, plus a couple of constraints worth knowing in advance.

The parking lot is paved and includes several designated accessible spaces along the left side of the building near the entrance. The store has a flat entry and a flat, single-level showroom floor, so getting in and moving through the retail space does not involve steps or ramps. Restrooms are located in the far right corner of the store. They are relatively small but include one designated accessible stall. Because of the restroom’s limited size, the accessible stall may not accommodate all mobility devices. Visitors with larger power chairs or scooters may want to call ahead with specific questions.

Southern Supreme can get very busy, especially during the November–December holiday season and at its open-house events. For an easier visit — particularly for anyone who needs more space to navigate — planning a trip during the less busy times of the year is the most comfortable option.

FAMILIES

Southern Supreme is a welcoming, family-oriented stop that works well for visitors of all ages and multigenerational trips. The store hosts year-round tastings and tours, accommodating everyone from solo travelers to larger groups, and group visits — church groups, senior trips, and the like — are common. The single-level, flat layout makes it easy to move through with strollers. The annual Holiday Open House is a particular draw for families during the season.
