It is the site of the Annual Tobacco Road Marathon and Half-Marathon, a Boston Marathon qualifying race. Chatham County Parks and Recreation and Triangle Rails-to-Trails Conservancy manage the site. The trail has benches, picnic tables, and restrooms. Activities include hiking, biking, birding, picnicking, and limited equestrian use.
