Mental Health Matters
Join 79° West for Mental Health Matters, a monthly community conversation designed to bring practical, evidence-informed mental health education to Pittsboro and the surrounding area. In this June session on Fri, Jun 26, 8am-9:15am, you’ll explore how the need for control develops as an attempt to feel safe — and how flexibility can reduce stress and anxiety.
Why is it so hard to let things go? Why do uncertainty, unpredictability, and feeling “out of control” create so much stress? In this Mental Health Matters talk, therapist Danny Eller, LCSW, explores the hidden anxiety beneath control, perfectionism, overthinking, and rigidity. Participants will learn how the mind uses control to manage fear and uncertainty, and why those strategies often leave individuals feeling more exhausted, frustrated, and disconnected. This practical and accessible conversation will help attendees better understand stress, anxiety, emotional rigidity, and the challenge of letting go, while offering healthier ways to respond to uncertainty in everyday life.
