Landscaping for Pollinators Workshop and Native Plant Sale
Join Chatham County Cooperative Extension for a Landscaping for Pollinators Workshop and Native Plant Sale.
Chatham County Agricultural Extension Agent Debbie Roos will share lessons learned from her 17 years of experience designing and managing the popular Pollinator Paradise Demonstration Garden in Pittsboro, which features over 225 species of perennials, 85% of them native to North Carolina. Debbie will discuss design principles, focusing on the practical aspects, such as creating winning plant combinations and selecting the best pollinator plants for each season. Participants will be given the tools to create a basic pollinator garden design that can be planted at their farm or home landscape.
The workshop will include hands-on pollinator garden design practice, and will conclude with a native plant sale featuring four of Chatham County’s native plant nurseries:
- Dutch Buffalo Farm.
- Growing Wild Nursery.
- Mellow Marsh Farm.
- Rachel’s Native Plants.
The workshop occurs Fri, Sep 19, 9am-4pm in the Cooperative Extension wing of the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center. Free parking is available at the venue. Pre-registration is required. The deadline for registration is Wed, Sep 10, 2025. The cost of the workshop is $65 per person and includes a light breakfast, a catered lunch, and extensive handouts created as tools to assist with plant selection and garden design.
