Join Cool Creek Farm for Summer Camps, hosted during select weeks in June, July, and August 2026. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like, but lunch is eaten together, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include:

• Sports, games, and play structures.
• Crafts.
• Creek and sand play.
• Visiting with the goats and collecting eggs.
• Fort building and tree climbing.
• Slip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.
• Trail walks and campfires.

Camps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro, NC, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter, Marinne. Melissa provides structure, safety, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages, away from electronics. She is thrilled to share her farm and watch the kids find their way and feel joy in this setting.

• Mon, Jul 27-Thu, Jul 30, 8:30am-2pm.
• Mon, Aug 10-Thu, Aug 13, 8:30am-2pm.
• Mon, Aug 17-Thu, Aug 20, 8:30am-2pm.

Each week is limited to 8-16 campers, ages 6-9 (rising 1st-4th graders), with an adult-to-camper ratio of 1:8 or better. The cost is $225 per week. This event takes place primarily outdoors. See more Cool Cree Farm events.
