All About Alliums in the Vegetable Garden: Onions, Garlic, Leeks, and Shallots
Can you imagine cooking without the sweet, savory, and spicy notes of onions, garlic, shallots, and leeks? Join the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer of Chatham County for All About Alliums in the Vegetable Garden: Onions, Garlic, Leeks, and Shallots on Thu, Oct 16, 9:30am-11am. Participants will learn about recommended varieties for our region, growing requirements, planting techniques and timing, irrigation and fertilizing, harvesting and storage, and pest management. Then, you will head outside to the Demonstration Garden at the Chatham County Agricultural & Conference Center to see how to plant garlic, onions, and leeks, and to learn how to install row covers for managing pests. You will want to include these fun-to-grow crops in your cool-season garden!
This event is held indoors and is $12 per person. Free parking is available on the left side of the entrance to the Cooperative Extension office (red rocking chairs are located outside the entrance). Sorry – no pets allowed. See more events at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center.
