Living History Event
History comes to life on Sun, May 3, 12pm-2pm with a Living History Event. The Chatham County Historical Association will host the Jordan Lake School of the Arts in a student-produced living history event to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary. The students have researched figures from Chatham’s past, including William Hooper, Lewis Freeman, and William Siler, to name a few, bringing them to life in the historic Chatham County Courthouse.
Students in period dress will deliver short talks about their characters. The audience is invited to stroll from one historic figure to another, meeting and learning about the characters and their impact on Chatham County. This Living History Event is a keystone project in the students’ history curriculum. Come support their efforts and enjoy an afternoon of Chatham County history with an upcoming generation of amazing Chatham County students. Everyone is welcome at this free event.
This free community event takes place indoors. The historic courthouse is ADA-compliant. Free parking is available behind the courthouse. No pets allowed. This event is part of our Chatham Celebrates America 250 initiative. See more America 250 events. See more events hosted by The Chatham Historical Association.
