Earth Day Canoe Paddle and Clean Up

April 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join Friends of the Lower Haw and NC State Parks for an Earth Day Canoe Paddle and Clean Up on Wed, Apr 22, 10am-2pm at the Lower Haw River State Natural Area. Paddle the Haw in a tandem canoe while cleaning up trash in the river along the way. After a short introduction, the paddle trip will launch at Bynum Mill Access and take out about 3.4 miles downstream at the US 64 Haw River Canoe Access, with a shuttle ride back to Bynum Mill Access.

Bring your own snacks/lunch and drinking water for a short lunch stop along the river. NC State Parks will provide the canoes, life jackets, and shuttle ride. The estimated total time for the event, including the introduction, lunch stop, paddling, and the shuttle ride back, is approximately 4 hours. Your guide is Sean Higgins, Interpretation & Education Manager with NC State Parks.
