Haw River Lowlands Hike

Join Friends of the Lower Haw for the third event in their “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” hiking series with a Haw River Lowlands Hike on Mon, Jun 22, 6pm-7pm at Lower Haw River State Natural AreaOutdoor NC Guide & Haw River native Ben Clarke and his trusty dog Rocco will guide you along this lovely 2-mile round-trip loop evening hike along the east bank of the Haw between Highway 64 and the start of Jordan Lake. You’ll cross several creeks, pass some of the river’s most famous rapids, and marvel at unique sights like the cactus boulder and cedar rock!

DIRECTIONS

  • From Pittsboro: Take US 64 East toward Apex. Slow down on the bridge crossing the Haw River. Immediately after crossing the river, there is a small gravel parking area on the right. Parking is limited. For your safety, do not park along the highway.
  • From Apex: Take US 64 west, headed towards Pittsboro. After crossing over the Haw River, make a U-turn at the first left and head east on US 64 back over the Haw River. Slow down on the bridge crossing the Haw River. Immediately after crossing the river, there is a small gravel parking area on the right.

Parking is limited. For your safety, do not park along the highway. Please wear sturdy shoes for walking on uneven ground and bring adequate water. Friendly dogs are welcome on leash!
