Great Backyard Bird Count Stroll
Join Friends of the Lower Haw River State Natural Area and Sean Higgins, an Interpretation and Education Manager with NC State Parks, for this Great Backyard Bird Count Stroll on Sat, Feb 14, 10am-11:30am. Learn some new bird identification skills or share some expertise with others. Anyone can participate in this nationwide citizen science project, held every President’s Day weekend. You will observe bird study skins up close to practice observation skills. Then, you’ll amble along the river and trails to conduct the bird count. Bring binoculars if you have them, or they’ll have some you can borrow. Everyone wis elcome, from expert birders to absolute beginners.
DIRECTIONS
From US Hwy 15-501, turn onto Durham-Eubanks Road. If coming from Chapel Hill, this will be a left turn before the Haw River. If coming from Pittsboro, this will be a right turn after crossing the Haw River. Follow Durham-Eubanks Road to the stop sign. Go straight at the stop sign and continue uphill on Bynum Church Road past the church and then downhill to the large State Parks parking lot on the right.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. All ages are welcome, but parents must accompany children. Free parking is available on-site. See more Chatham Sports Alliance events.
