Stay at Fearrington Country House Inn, Rosemary Bed & Breakfast, or the Chapel Hill Bed and Breakfast. Visit the downtown Pittsboro during the day and dine at one of our nifty eateries. Drive the historic traffic circle, visit the Courthouse museum, and tour the “big cat” sanctuary of exotic animals.
Jordan Lake, Apex, and Pittsboro
Bike, fish, swim, sunbathe, observe eagles, walk, sail–enjoy the wonders of nature. Stop at the Farmers’ Market in either Pittsboro or at Fearrington (spring through Thanksgiving). Tour the signature gardens at Fearrington and visit the nice variety of shops. Don’t forget to pet the “Belties!”
Kids will enjoy the Talking Trail at Jordan Lake State Educational Forest–bring a picnic lunch and bask in the warm weather. Golf at any of our three incredible golf courses: Governors Club (27 holes, designed by Jack Nicklaus), The Preserve (designed by Davis Love III, adjacent to Jordan Lake), and Twin Lakes (public course, 9 holes).
Take the scenic byway, Hwy 902 (Devil’s Stomping Ground Highway), and stop for a treat at Southern Supreme Gourmet Confections, NC’s largest fruitcake producer. The adventurer will want to make a stop at Devil’s Tramping Ground (legend has it that the Devil himself makes nightly walks here, keeping the ground sterile and charred as he plots his evil plans).
Stay at the B&B at Laurel Ridge for a romantic getaway. Families will enjoy Celebrity Goat Dairy (known as the Goat Hilton) where you can participate in feeding the goats and hear how cheese is made. Take flowers to Aunt Bee’s gravesite (from the Andy Griffith show). Explore the fascinating history of downtown Siler City and its dynamic shops and courses at the North Carolina Arts Incubator. Taste a variety of wines as you enjoy vineyard views at Siler City’s first winery, Horizon Cellars.
Gulf & Goldston
Visit the Camelback Bridge (on the National Historic Register) in Gulf, then drive to Goldston to see the historic district (also on the register)–approximately 15 buildings. Grab a burger at the Goldston Grill.
