DESCRIPTION

Mays Pottery has been making hand-thrown pottery, dinnerware, and one-of-a-kind art pottery since 1965. Their work is distinguished from that of other artists by its exceptional craftsmanship and brilliant colors. Martha and Nathan, a mother-and-son team, come from a rich pottery heritage.

Their studio and gallery are located on the banks of the Haw River near Chapel Hill, North Carolina. All pottery made at the Mays Pottery is hand-thrown; no other methods are used. Traditional techniques and ancient Japanese bamboo brushwork are trademarks of their work. The duo crafts the porcelain in a maze of detailed production processes that yield the most beautiful and functional porcelain attainable.
