Jordan Lake Farms is a family-owned Christmas tree farm in Chatham County, run by Diana and Byron May since they planted their first trees in 1994. Choose and cut your own from rows of locally grown varieties, or pick up a fresh-cut NC Fraser fir, a ball-and-burlap tree you can plant in the yard after the holidays, a hand-made wreath, or White Pine garland.
The on-site Christmas shop carries ornaments and gifts from local artisans, and the concession stand serves hot mini donuts, local apple cider, and hot chocolate on Fridays and weekends through the season. Hayrides run as weather allows, the bounce house is open for the kids, and photographers (and their clients) are welcome to use the farm as a backdrop. Reservations are required (no fee) for Thanksgiving weekend visits, and quieter hours are set aside for guests at higher medical risk. Pets are welcome on leash. Online ordering with tent-side pickup is available for many trees and wreaths. The farm sits on Martha’s Chapel Road in the northeast corner of the county, near Jordan Lake.
The farm doesn’t shut down when the trees do. Country Fresh Flower Farm — Jordan Lake’s seasonal U-pick flower operation — opens in the warmer months for bouquets and flower events. There’s an event pavilion that hosts gatherings through the summer. The property includes a farm stay for visitors who want to spend the night among the trees.
Recognized in 2025 as a North Carolina Farm Family of the Day by the State Fair and Tractor Supply, Jordan Lake Farms has been working hard, welcoming neighbors, and giving the holidays a place to start for over 30 years.
