Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past Walking Tour
Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past returns to downtown Pittsboro on Oct. 23-25, offering a historical walking tour that combines local folklore, reenactments and stories from the town’s past. Led by guides and costumed interpreters, participants will travel a one-mile route through historic sites, cemeteries, churches and other landmarks while encountering “spirits” who share tales from Pittsboro’s history.
Tours begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. from the Historic Chatham Courthouse and last approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Open to ages 12 and older, the experience is held rain or shine and is designed to offer a new perspective on the people and events that shaped the community. Attendance is limited to 60 participants per evening, with guests divided into small groups. Please note that pets and strollers are not permitted on the tour.
Tickets are $25 for Chatham County Historical Association members and $30 for nonmembers. Registration is available online only, and advance purchase is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight and wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes. Proceeds support the Chatham County Historical Association and its efforts to preserve and share local history.
