Explore authentic French food and wine at Vino!! Wine Shop’s L’Assiette Provençale French Wine Dinner on Sun, Nov 2, 6pm-8pm. They are ecstatic to announce that Chef Baptist Knaven, former owner and Chef at Provence in Carrboro, has agreed to cook their upcoming wine dinner. He’s teaming up with Tyler Morgan of Authentique Vin to craft a truly unforgettable French experience in honor of the famous French Chef Jacques Pépin, whose 90th birthday is approaching.

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Chef Baptist came to the US in 2003 to open Café Zito in Morehead City. It was the first Mediterranean/Tapas-style bistro on the southern coast and became immensely popular. In 2011, he moved from the coast and took over the small French restaurant, Provence, in Carrboro. Chef Baptist developed it into one of the finest French bistros around, earning many accolades in magazines, guest appearances at various local restaurants, teaching classes at Southern Season, and a five-time guest chef at the Beaufort Wine and Food Festival. It became a top-five “Sunday Brunch” restaurant on OpenTable’s national list of best restaurants. In 2023, Chef Baptist sold the restaurant to focus on another passion – dog training and competition. He became a customer at Vino, and Anna convinced him to cook one more time for this special event!
