Frog Hollow Outdoors Events

All events at Frog Hollow Outdoors.
Guests must bring a flashlight to take on water, and must pack and bring their own water and snack. Environmental factors may impact the plan for the day. Individual paddlers can register but a trip must have at least 4 registered guests for a trip to go. Private trips may be available by advance request (minimum rates apply). Gratuity for guides is always appreciated.

Eagle Paddles at Farrington Point
Join Frog Hollow Outdoors as they paddle the northern reaches of Jordan Lake in search of its majestic residents. All participants will be in solo Transitional/Day-Touring Kayaks or Sea Kayaks, and they can not guarantee a bald eagle sighting. Minimum of intermediate paddling experience recommended, including the ability to paddle for up to 8 miles on flat water.

Meet Frog Hollow Outdoors at the water at one of the Triangle’s great local flatwater out-and-back paddling destinations. Whether you’re searching out Bald Eagles on Jordan Lake or enjoying the tranquility of Weaver Creek, these reasonably priced self–guided trip options are great for just about anyone. With advance registration these trips are available through our main season.

Paddle Under the Stars at Farrington Point
Join Frog Hollow and Morehead Planetarium Astronomers, Amy Sayle or Mickey Jo Sorrell to learn about the night sky on these exceptional evenings. Participants will enjoy a nice mix of science and mythology about the night sky while kicking back in canoes or kayaks on Jordan Lake.

Intro to Kayak Classes at Farrington Point
In this 4-5 hour class, you will learn about various types of kayaking along with fundamental kayak skills including: identifying hazards, basic strokes, concepts in craft handling, wet exits, and rescues in calm water. These classes are taught in recreational or day touring style kayaks.

Kayak Basics Express Clinics
If you have just gotten into kayaking or are interested in giving it a try, this class is a great place to start! You will cover basics in kayak nomenclature, wet-exit procedure, and what is referred to as the “building-block strokes.” Participants will also be introduced, through demonstration, to some more advanced skills and strokes. Other dates can be scheduled for these clinics besides the ones listed below. Please call or email to inquire.

Learn about the world of Standup Paddleboarding. These 90-minute clinics cover how to get on and off your board, paddling techniques, proper stance, turning methods, and types of SUPs.
