Farms, weekly farmers markets, an award-winning goat dairy and B&B inn, a GFAS-accredited animal sanctuary, a culinary institute with a farm-to-fork cafe, and many farm-to-table places to eat make our destination worth the trip. Farmlife is celebrated here, with an annual festival (almost five decades) featuring a variety of demonstrations (including making old-fashioned ice cream, or steam cream), and new features each year that make the event a tradition. Our scene includes food events, farm tours, and seasonal farms for berries, pumpkins, and Christmas trees. Find locally made products in our boutiques, online, and at eateries throughout North Carolina. Mead, cider, wine, and beer are all produced in our area, with some talented farmers working with our brewers, distillers, and winemakers.
