DESCRIPTION:Join Sip & ScriptⓇ at Starrlight Mead for Modern Calligraphy Fun during this Valentine’s/Galentine’s Modern Calligraphy for Beginners workshop on Sun\, Jan 18\, 2pm-3:30pm. Whether you’re a stationery nerd\, DIY Bride-to-be\, or just a crafty individual\, you’ll be introduced to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink in this workshop. The workshop will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your snail mail\, wedding paper goods\, home decor\, and more! \nEnjoy a perfect crafty afternoon out! Feel free to arrive early\, grab your seat\, and purchase snacks or additional drinks (snacks and drinks are available throughout the class). Class will start promptly at 2pm. \nYes\, lefties are welcome\, too! This class is recommended for anyone who has never taken a calligraphy class. They teach the basics\, and they expect that you have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to practice well beyond class. They love using tracing paper with their guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy before\, this class will be a great refresher and a chance to try new supplies from our beginner kit that will reintroduce you to this lovely form of art! \nRegistration is $73 per person and includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration\, a beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs\, a black ink pot\, two letter guides\, tracing paper\, and a straight pen holder)\, materials to write on\, and one drink (mead/honey wine\, cider\, or a non-alcoholic beverage). Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop! A note on bringing guests ages 16 and under: Sip & ScriptⓇ loves to share this passion with kids. You are welcome to get a ticket for your child if you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. In support of the 10th Annual Death Faire\, set aside sacred time to tend to your grieving heart. During this special event\, heart2heartnc offers the space to love fully\, grieve deeply\, and bring comfort to yourself and the community. Cathy Brooksie Edwards will lead you through a powerful journey of breathwork\, light movement\, and healing touch. As you travel the transformative spaces of the fall season\, musicians Amy Durso\, Lolly Dunlap\, Sheila Fleming\, and special guests Will Ridenour and Richard Edwards will provide a soulful soundscape. Hands-on healers will be present to provide light energy work during the soundscape’s rest period. \nPlease bring your own yoga mat\, water\, a blanket\, and any props that support your comfort as you relax in the stillness of your tender heart. Chairs will be available. Feel free to arrive several minutes early to prepare your spot and settle into your sacred space for participation. DESCRIPTION:Mead Fest is an annual celebration of all things mead! Savor honey wine and discover how to craft it. Plus\, it’s a fun excuse for a mini Renaissance faire\, featuring home mead-making demonstrations\, tastings\, Renaissance music\, arts and crafts\, archery\, axe-throwing\, sword-fighting knights\, food\, vendors\, and much more. \nHoneygirl Meadery will be joining the festivities again this year. Craft beverages are also available from Fair Game Beverage Company and bmc brewing. Make sure to try Starrlight and bmc’s collaboration\, a braggot\, which combines beer and mead. Grab food from Kingston 99 Kitchen\, JDub’s PoBoys\, Metal Brixx Cafe\, and Ta Contento. \nThis year’s event takes place Sat\, Sep 27\, 12pm-5pm.
