If you missed their December show\, you want to be here for this one! \n\nJennifer Curtis\, an internationally acclaimed violinist\, composer\, and improviser described as a “multi-genre maverick.” She has performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and major venues around the world\, collaborated with leading composers\, and appeared at festivals across the U.S.\, Europe\, and South America. Jennifer teaches violin at Duke University\, performs with the North Carolina Symphony\, and plays a 1777 Vincenzo Panormo violin.\nGabriel Pelli is a lifelong musician and educator based in Chapel Hill. DESCRIPTION:Join The Plant and Fair Game Beverage Company in Pittsboro’s new listening room for Wheelhouse Music Sessions: Brenda Linton + Friends on Fri\, Mar 27\, 7pm-9pm. Musician and writer Brenda Linton performs her unique blend of song and spoken word\, joined on several tunes by guest musicians Kim Caraganis\, Elizabeth Haddix\, and Dave Smith. \nLinton is a versatile artist well known to audiences at The Plant. In 2021\, she organized the UnityFest Concert\, featuring local musicians and music students\, to help bring the community together in the aftermath of Covid-19. In 2022 and 2023\, at events to support the missions of the Chatham County Arts Council and the Ukrainian Association of North Carolina\, Linton combined readings from her memoir with newly composed music to create an enhanced experience for listeners. More recently\, she participated in a Poetry @ The Plant event with the theme of women’s empowerment\, co-sponsored by the Women’s Advocacy Initiative. In this hands-on workshop\, teaching artist Angaea Cuna will guide you through the magical transformation of natural fibers—like Kozo\, Wauke\, Abaca\, and Hemp—into beautiful handmade paper. \nUsing a blend of Western\, Japanese\, and Hawaiian techniques\, you’ll learn how to create your own 6×9” postcard-sized sheets of paper. This introductory class is ideal for anyone interested in exploring sustainable creativity and natural materials. You’ll learn to beat fibers\, make pulp baths\, and use a mould and deckle—all skills you can take home and replicate with simple\, household tools. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll leave with your own unique handmade papers—rooted in nature and made by your own hands. \nClasses are held on the following dates: \n\nSat\, Sep 13\, 1pm-3pm.\nSun\, Sep 21\, 1pm-3pm.\n\nIMPORTANT NOTES \n\nPapermaking is a wet process. Make sure to wear non-slip shoes. Her recent projects include a month-long artist residency on Moloka‘i\, where she studied seaweed and algae that washed ashore. There\, she harvested the invasive seaweeds to create handmade paper and bind a one-of-a-kind artist book honoring the spirit and ecology of the nameless fishpond. \nThis event takes place indoors.
