Circle City Supper Club’s Summer Farm Camp invites young farmers ages 7+ to roll up their sleeves and discover the joys of farm life on our working dairy farm. \nEach morning begins with chores alongside playful goats\, curious chickens\, and furry pigs. Campers might take turns feeding goats\, gathering fresh eggs\, brushing pigs\, or cleaning pens—all while learning how to care for animals responsibly and kindly. After chores\, the adventure continues with nature goat hikes\, pond-side fishing\, and scavenger hunts that spark curiosity about local plants and wildlife. Creative afternoons bring arts and crafts inspired by farm life—such as painting goat portraits\, making leaf prints\, or building bird feeders from recycled materials. Campers also help prepare simple morning and afternoon snacks—think fresh fruit kabobs\, veggie wraps\, or homemade butter or goat cheese on crackers. SUMMARY:Old-Fashioned Farmers' Days
DESCRIPTION:Visit the past and marvel at how things were done at the 51st Annual Old-Fashioned Farmers’ Days on Sat\, Sep 5-Sun\, Sep 6\, 9am-6pm at Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park\, the longest-running event in Chatham County.  Every Labor Day weekend\, the fields at Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park come alive with the chug of steam engines and the smell of barbecue. Hosted by the Silk Hope Ruritan Club since 1975\, this two-day celebration of the area’s agricultural roots has grown from a small gathering into a beloved tradition that draws thousands of visitors from across the region. \nAcross the grounds\, you’ll find a sprawling display of antique tractors and farm equipment\, plus living demonstrations of how rural work once got done: a working sawmill powered by steam\, a cotton gin\, tobacco equipment\, and the hiss and smoke of restored steam engines running just as they did a century ago. One of those engines powers the event’s most famous treat—”steam cream\,” handmade ice cream churned on-site that’s worth the trip on its own. \nThe show barn anchors the entertainment\, with clogging performances\, live music\, and a junior dairy show\, while antique tractor pulls\, craft demonstrations\, draft horses\, and farm animals fill out the day. Families will find plenty to keep younger visitors busy\, from a kids’ discovery area to pony rides and a mini-train. And the food is unapologetically Southern: barbecue\, pinto beans\, and more. \nAdmission is $5 per person and free for children ages 6 and under – great for families! Leashed\, well-behaved pets are allowed. The festival is located one hour west of Raleigh\, NC\, off US 64\, one hour southeast of Greensboro via US 421 and US 64\, 45 minutes south of Burlington\, NC\, via NC 87 and Lindley Mill/Silk Hope-Lindley Mill Rd\, and six miles northeast of Siler City\, Chatham County\, NC.

SUMMARY:Hoppin’ John Fiddlers’ Convention
DESCRIPTION:Looking forward to beautiful early fall days at the Annual Hoppin’ John Fiddlers’ Convention on Thu\, Sep 17-Sat\, Sep 19 at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center! This beloved regional event brings together families and music lovers for a unique old-time fiddlers’ convention. Performers compete in contests spanning a wide range of categories\, all culminating in the Old-Time\, Bluegrass\, and Non-Traditional Band Contests on Saturday evening. \nThe weekend also includes a Friday night concert\, showcases from a variety of performers\, music and dance workshops\, film screenings\, and plenty of great food and drink\, including local beer from bmc brewing. The Hoppin’ John Cook-Off is a festival highlight\, with a chance to taste some creative\, homemade dishes (registration opens Wed\, Jul 1\, 2026). This is a family-friendly event\, with plenty of crafts\, activities\, workshops\, and contests for kids of all ages.  \nThis event takes place outdoors. Vehicle and tent camping are available in designated areas. Rates for weekend and single-day admission\, as well as camping\, are available here. See more events at Shakori.  \nACCESSIBILITY \nAlthough situated on a rolling half-farm and in a wooded setting\, Shakori Hills is fairly navigable for those with disabilities. Please find some helpful information below and contact info@hoppinjohn.org with any further questions. A gravel road connects all of the musical stages. As it is a rolling hill property\, there are slight declines and inclines\, but nothing too steep. This main thoroughfare provides good (though slightly rugged) access to all the music and is very close to their food area\, as well as all the accessible camping and parking areas. \nMobility-impaired parking is available on a first-come\, first-served basis and is divided into Van-Accessible spaces and regular-width spaces. Please see the parking volunteers for directions and access. A valid state-issued DMV ADA placard or HD plate is required. They have two Mobility-Impaired Camping areas close to the accessible bathrooms. If interested in utilizing one of these sites\, please contact info@hoppinjohn.org before attending a festival to coordinate. \nPETS \nBringing your dog to Hoppin’ John is highly discouraged. However\, your furry friends are allowed if they are contained on a leash at all times. You must pay the dog admission price ($10) for each dog. They reserve the right to ask you and your dog to leave if he or she is behaving badly or they are not leashed/contained. You must clean up after your dog. Dogs over 20 pounds may not venture from your campsite.

Traditional accommodations and short-term rental properties are located a short drive away in Pittsboro (458 West Bed & Breakfast\, Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Pittsboro\, Small B&B and Cafe\, and The Rosemary House) and Silk Hope/Siler City (Cedar Serenity Guest House and The Inn at Celebrity Dairy). \nThere is plenty of parking at the festival site\, and it costs $25 for the weekend or $10 per day per vehicle. They support reducing carbon emissions wherever possible\, so carpoolers with 4 or more occupants park for free! \nAs much as they love pets\, for everyone’s health and safety\, pets are not allowed at Shakori Hills. Shakori Hills cannot accept entry of “Comfort” or “Emotional Support” animals. The rules concerning ADA Animals are very strict\, and they welcome only those that require true ADA-compliant Service Animals. Comfort or Emotional Support animals are not ADA-approved or classified as such. \nThe Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is a collaboration between the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center and the GrassRoots Festival Organization\, providing a family-friendly celebration of music\, dance\, art\, and education. See more events at Shakori. \nACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION \nAlthough situated on a rolling half-farm and in a wooded setting\, Shakori Hills is fairly navigable for those with disabilities. Please find helpful information below and contact shakorihills@grassrootsfest.org with any further questions. \nA gravel road connects all of the musical stages. As it is a rolling hill property\, there are slight declines and inclines\, but nothing too steep. This main thoroughfare provides good (though slightly rugged) access to all the music and is very close to their food area\, as well as all the accessible camping and parking areas. \nMobility-impaired parking is available on a first-come\, first-served basis and is divided into Van-Accessible spaces and regular-width spaces. Please see the parking volunteers for directions and access. A valid state-issued DMV ADA placard or HD plate is required. They have two Mobility-Impaired Camping areas close to accessible bathrooms. DESCRIPTION:Shakori 40 Ultra on Fri\, Dec 4-Sat\, Dec 5\, 2026\, at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center brings the running community together to race in nature and enjoy each other’s company. They offer a 40-mile ultramarathon\, a 40K open race for men and women\, and a 40-mile age-graded team relay for up to 10 members—with age and gender factored in to determine the overall winning team. There’s also a 4-mile open race. You’ll have a blast at the Shakori 40\, thanks to great camaraderie\, live music\, delicious food\, camping\, bonfires\, craft beer\, and so much more. \nThey’ll keep the energy high day and night with classic rock favorites and Woodstock-era gems—some you know by heart and others you’ll discover for the first time. They’ll also feature two live bands: one on Friday night and another on Saturday during the race\, enhancing the Shakori vibe and spirit. This musical atmosphere ensures an unforgettable experience for runners and visitors alike. If you’re not running\, you can purchase a non-runner ticket and enjoy the Friday night party\, as well as your complimentary beverage at the Shakori Barn while taking in the sounds and scenery.
