DESCRIPTION:Join Cool Creek Farm for Summer Camps\, hosted during select weeks in June\, July\, and August 2026. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. She is thrilled to share her farm and watch the kids find their way and feel joy in this setting. \nCAMP DATES & DETAILS \nCamp is held during the following weeks: \n\nMon\, Jun 15-Thu\, Jun 18\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 22-Thu\, Jun 25\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 29-Thu\, Jul 2\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 13-Thu\, Jul 16\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 20-Thu\, Jul 23\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 27-Thu\, Jul 30\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 10-Thu\, Aug 13\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 17-Thu\, Aug 20\, 8:30am-2pm.\n\nEach week is limited to 8-16 campers\, ages 6-9 (rising 1st-4th graders)\, with an adult-to-camper ratio of 1:8 or better. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. DESCRIPTION:As part of Chatham County’s year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday\, the Chatham County Historical Association (CCHA) is hosting an NC History Book Club: Between the Lines\, held on the third Saturday of every month in 2026\, from 9:30am-10:30am. This monthly book club will explore North Carolina’s rich history through engaging nonfiction. Whether you’re a lifelong history lover or are simply curious about the people and events that shaped our state\, join CCHA for conversation and lively discussion. \nRegister here for the June 2026 session\, where you will discuss Fire on the Beach: Recovering the Lost Story of Richard Etheridge and the Pea Island Lifesavers by David Wright and David Zoby. Fire on the Beach explores the dangers of 19th-century coastal transportation along North Carolina’s “Graveyard of the Atlantic\,” where ships carrying goods and people faced constant danger. Through the story of Richard Etheridge and the all-black crew of the US Life-Saving Service\, the crew faced discrimination and the dangers of the Atlantic\, yet rose to heroism in their service. Participation is free\, and you are welcome to bring friends. This month’s event takes place Sat\, Jun 20\, 9:30am-10:30am at the Chatham County Courthouse and Historical Museum. \nAll are welcome\, and admission is free. Sell your vintage\, antiques\, and secondhand goods\, share items you’re ready to pass along\, or simply come hunt for a good find. Shop\, wander\, and enjoy food and drinks from The Plant businesses throughout the day – grab coffee from Metal Brixx and Brunch at Ta Contento. Find vintage\, antiques\, secondhand goods\, jewelry\, furniture\, rugs\, lamps\, tools\, and oddities. \nThink cafe meets flea market\, meets arts and crafts\, meets Facebook market. It’s meant to be a gathering spot for children and dogs and a little neighbor-to-neighbor trading. You might also see some local produce pop up from Little Pond Gardens and other tenants! \nThe vendor fee is $15 – you can apply here. Free and convenient parking. Free entry. Fully accessible. Family\, kid\, and leashed pet friendly. \nMost events are rain or shine; if they have to cancel\, they will do so as far in advance as possible. Leashed\, well-behaved pets are allowed outside; pet policies indoors vary by individual business. The Plant is accessible to guests and will do its best to accommodate any additional requests.
