DESCRIPTION:In Intermediate Home Mead Making -Melomels: Adding Fruit\, you will learn about melomels\, or mead with fruit\, ranging from dry-wine-like fruit meads to big “fruit bombs”. Does it make a difference if you add the fruit in the primary\, secondary\, or after fermentation? What about pectic haze – what causes it and what should you do about it? Starrlight will answer all these questions and more. You’ll also taste some examples of different fruit meads. \nThis class is $50 per person and $75 for groups of two. All class participants must be over 21! No exceptions. Register by Wed\, Jul 8 to participate. This event occurs Sat\, Jul 11\, 10am-1pm at Starrlight Mead. If you are purchasing this as a gift\, please let them know\, and they will send a gift certificate for the class for you to present to your loved one. \nThis is an intermediate class\, and attendees must have a basic understanding of home mead-making processes\, equipment\, and terminology\, as well as have made a few batches of home mead. DESCRIPTION:Join Cool Creek Farm for Summer Camps\, hosted during select weeks in June\, July\, and August 2026. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. DESCRIPTION:Join Carolina Tiger Rescue for an Expedition Camp on Mon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 9am-4pm. This weeklong camp\, designed for rising 6th-8th graders\, allows your child to experience the sanctuary’s incredible world. They will visit the animals daily\, learn about the essential role carnivores play in their natural habitats\, find out what it takes to be a wildcat veterinarian\, practice wildlife biology skills\, and help some of the tigers express their creativity through painting!  Each week of camp is limited to 14 campers. To sign up\, you need to complete the registration forms and provide payment. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. She is thrilled to share her farm and watch the kids find their way and feel joy in this setting. \nCAMP DATES & DETAILS \nCamp is held during the following weeks: \n\nMon\, Jun 15-Thu\, Jun 18\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 22-Thu\, Jun 25\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 29-Thu\, Jul 2\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 13-Thu\, Jul 16\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 20-Thu\, Jul 23\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 27-Thu\, Jul 30\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 10-Thu\, Aug 13\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 17-Thu\, Aug 20\, 8:30am-2pm.\n\nEach week is limited to 8-16 campers\, ages 6-9 (rising 1st-4th graders)\, with an adult-to-camper ratio of 1:8 or better. This weeklong camp\, designed for rising 6th-8th graders\, allows your child to experience the sanctuary’s incredible world. They will visit the animals daily\, learn about the essential role carnivores play in their natural habitats\, find out what it takes to be a wildcat veterinarian\, practice wildlife biology skills\, and help some of the tigers express their creativity through painting!  Each week of camp is limited to 14 campers. To sign up\, you need to complete the registration forms and provide payment. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. SUMMARY:Carolina Tiger Rescue: Expedition Camp
DESCRIPTION:Join Carolina Tiger Rescue for an Expedition Camp on Mon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 9am-4pm. This weeklong camp\, designed for rising 6th-8th graders\, allows your child to experience the sanctuary’s incredible world. They will visit the animals daily\, learn about the essential role carnivores play in their natural habitats\, find out what it takes to be a wildcat veterinarian\, practice wildlife biology skills\, and help some of the tigers express their creativity through painting!  Each week of camp is limited to 14 campers. To sign up\, you need to complete the registration forms and provide payment. Your camper’s spot isn’t reserved until you’ve completed both steps. \nThe cost is $350 per camper plus applicable taxes and fees\, with a mid-morning snack provided by Carolina Tiger Rescue. Before- and after-care are available for $25 and $35\, respectively\, for the week\, with before-care available at 8am and after-care available until 5pm. See more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue.

You’ll get to a little of everything they have to offer at camp\, thanks to their talented staff\, special guests\, and extensive store of games\, art supplies\, and cool stuff! Possibilities include: \n\nAn unbelievable variety of craft projects and art supplies to use.\nBig games like capture the flag\, ultimate frisbee\, kickball\, and rainbow tag.\nMusic jams\, instrument lessons\, dancing\, and songwriting.\nJournaling\, reading\, and discussing topics you’re interested in.\nExploring the forest\, fields\, trails\, and pond with canoes.\n\nTeens will have the opportunity to request their favorite activities\, and they will include as many of them as possible\, making sure your teen’s identity\, ideas\, and preferences are heard and valued all week long. There will be a sharing for parents and families on Fri\, Jul 17 at 4pm\, followed by a potluck dinner! \nThe cost is $350 per teen. Ages 13-19 are welcome.
