DESCRIPTION:Join Starrlight Mead for Loose Watercolor Floral Postcards on Sun\, Jul 12\, 2pm-4pm. During this relaxed\, creative class\, you’ll “let go” and explore the spontaneous nature of watercolor while painting flowers. Rachel will guide participants through simple techniques that emphasize play rather than perfection. By the end of the session\, each participant will create several watercolor postcards—perfect for sending to friends and loved ones or keeping as small works of art. All skill levels are welcome. Beginners will enjoy learning a new medium in a supportive environment\, while those with experience can deepen their practice\, try new approaches\, and connect with fellow artists. \nSupplies are provided\, but you’re welcome to bring your favorite materials. Tickets are $45 per person. Registration includes all materials and one drink. Adults 21 and older only\, please. This event takes place indoors. Starrlight Mead is part of The Plant. DESCRIPTION:Join Cool Creek Farm for Summer Camps\, hosted during select weeks in June\, July\, and August 2026. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. She is thrilled to share her farm and watch the kids find their way and feel joy in this setting. \nCAMP DATES & DETAILS \nCamp is held during the following weeks: \n\nMon\, Jun 15-Thu\, Jun 18\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 22-Thu\, Jun 25\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 29-Thu\, Jul 2\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 13-Thu\, Jul 16\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 20-Thu\, Jul 23\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 27-Thu\, Jul 30\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 10-Thu\, Aug 13\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 17-Thu\, Aug 20\, 8:30am-2pm.\n\nEach week is limited to 8-16 campers\, ages 6-9 (rising 1st-4th graders)\, with an adult-to-camper ratio of 1:8 or better. SUMMARY:Carolina Tiger Rescue: Expedition Camp
DESCRIPTION:Join Carolina Tiger Rescue for an Expedition Camp on Mon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 9am-4pm. This weeklong camp\, designed for rising 6th-8th graders\, allows your child to experience the sanctuary’s incredible world. They will visit the animals daily\, learn about the essential role carnivores play in their natural habitats\, find out what it takes to be a wildcat veterinarian\, practice wildlife biology skills\, and help some of the tigers express their creativity through painting!  Each week of camp is limited to 14 campers. To sign up\, you need to complete the registration forms and provide payment. Possibilities include: \n\nAn unbelievable variety of craft projects and art supplies to use.\nBig games like capture the flag\, ultimate frisbee\, kickball\, and rainbow tag.\nMusic jams\, instrument lessons\, dancing\, and songwriting.\nJournaling\, reading\, and discussing topics you’re interested in.\nExploring the forest\, fields\, trails\, and pond with canoes.\n\nTeens will have the opportunity to request their favorite activities\, and they will include as many of them as possible\, making sure your teen’s identity\, ideas\, and preferences are heard and valued all week long. There will be a sharing for parents and families on Fri\, Jul 17 at 4pm\, followed by a potluck dinner! \nThe cost is $350 per teen. Ages 13-19 are welcome.
