DESCRIPTION:The Big What? is a multi-night outdoor Summer music festival and campout hosted by Big Something and Possum Holler Productions. Now in its 10th year\, It has become one of the bands’ favorite traditions\, with fans\, friends\, and family in attendance from across the country. Each year\, the festival features a musical and artistic experience curated by Big Something with many of the bands’ favorite local\, regional\, and national touring artists. This year’s event takes place Thu\, Aug 21-Sat\, Aug 23 at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center. Get your tickets here. \nPast performers include: Vulfpeck\, Cory Wong\, Sammy Rae & The Friends\, Butcher Brown\, Maggie Rose\, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong\, Daily Bread\, Too Many Zooz\, Sunsquabi\, The Nth Power\, Becca Stevens\, Larry Keel\, Dopapod\, Tauk\, Aqueous\, Toubab Krewe\, Everyone Orchestra\, Jimkata\, Consider The Source and many more! \nCAMPING \nTent camping (or hammock camping) is encouraged and included in the ticket price. General admission camping will require a short walk from the parking area. Please camp in designated areas only. Personal campfires are strictly prohibited. A little bit of felting experience opens the door to a massive variety of projects… fun felted animals\, beads\, jewelry\, backpack charms\, patches\, decorations on clothing\, wall hangings\, pillows\, pouches and bags\, felted soaps\, and for more advanced felters – hats\, mittens\, slippers\, and more. This camp will also include opportunities to try other fiber arts projects such as knitting\, weaving\, crocheting\, mending\, sewing\, friendship bracelets\, kumihimo\, and embroidery. \nThe cost is $350 per person. Ages 10+ are welcome. Chatham County residents receive a $25 discount. There is a $25 discount for participants who register before January 31\, 2025. SUMMARY:Come Out and Play Sculpture Show
DESCRIPTION:Dozens of artists\, creating in a myriad of media\, are represented in this annual Come Out and Play Sculpture Show\, now in its 24th year. The event takes place on a 17-acre homestead and is a gift from hosts to guests and artists. Artists do not pay a participation fee and keep all proceeds from their sales (many of the works on display are for sale). There are some out-of-state artists\, but most are local to North Carolina. Each reception is filled with fantastic art and local vendors\, free food and drink from the artists and hosts\, visits with the horses and pigs\, and live music from the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op. \nThe opening reception for 2025 is Sat\, Aug 23 and Sun\, Aug 24\, 12pm until dark. Smooth and silky\, with complexly layered flavors that include papaya\, mango\, rosewater\, peach\, and honey.\nDewazakura Yukimanman “Snow Country” Daiginjo is polished to 35% and aged for 5 years at 25°F. Well-rounded\, full-bodied\, and smooth\, with persimmon and pomegranate notes.\nAmabuki Rhododendron Junmai Daiginjo is polished to 40% and aged for 3 years at 32°F.
