SUMMARY:Forest Tinkering Camp
DESCRIPTION:Forest Tinkering Camp at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors. Forest Tinkering Camp is very different from Tinkering School’s format.  Campers spend most of the day in the forest based in the camp’s new shelter\, learning and developing a variety of outdoor skills: flint-knapping to make arrowheads\, chopping wood for daily campfires used for cooking\, gathering native plants\, making fishing nets\, building a water filtration system\, whittling sticks into tools\, improving in archery\, and telling stories of yesteryear. As for projects\, they will be mostly individual.  Campers will need a certain level of maturity and be able to follow instructions to work and play safely in this environment. \nThey save 4 spots for girls during the registration period\, so they end up with a nice ratio of boys to girls.  If any of the “girl” spots are not taken by March 1st\, they open them to boys on the waitlist. There is a 6:1 counselor-to-camper ratio. This camp is for children ages 9-12. \nCamp is $499/week. Early care starts at 8am and is $35/week. Aftercare runs from 3pm-5:30pm and is $125/week. A monthly payment plan is available at checkout. Pay only a $75 non-refundable deposit now to secure your spot. Transfer\, Cancellation\, and Refund Policy is here. Multi-week and sibling discounts are automatically applied to your order at checkout. (5% discount for the 2nd+ child or 2nd+ week).  \nSCHEDULE \n\nMon\, Jun 15-Fri\, Jun 19\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jun 22-Fri\, Jun 26\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jun 29-Fri\, Jul 3\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 6-Fri\, Jul 10\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 13-Fri\, Jul 17\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 20-Fri\, Jul 24\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Jul 27-Fri\, Jul 31\, 8:30am-3pm.\nMon\, Aug 3-Fri\, Aug 7\, 8:30am-3pm. \n\nSee more events at Sun Star Farm. SUMMARY:Tinkering School NC
DESCRIPTION:Tinkering School NC at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors and a 3rd counselor during peak building times. Once they cover skills and safety\, campers collaborate to create an awesome large-scale project based on a theme chosen late Monday/Tuesday morning\, depending on skill level\, interest\, and weather conditions. They use impact drivers\, cordless drills\, levels\, measuring tapes\, and other basic carpentry hand tools.  Each camper is given safety glasses and ear muff hearing protection. Every day\, they mix in group games\, visit farm animals\, explore the farm\, play water games\, and go down the water slide to keep cool. \nThey save 4 spots for girls during the registration period\, so they end up with a nice ratio of boys to girls.  If any of the “girl” spots are not taken by March 1st\, they open them to boys on the waitlist. SUMMARY:Chatham Yardbirds vs Danville Dairy Daddies
DESCRIPTION:Come out for a night of baseball and watch Chatham Yardbirds vs Danville Dairy Daddies at Paul Braxton Park on the following dates: \n\nFri\, Jul 3\, 7pm-10pm.\nSun\, Jul 5\, 6pm-9pm.\nSat\, Jul 18\, 7pm-10pm Last Home Game of the Season!\n\nGates typically open about an hour before first pitch. The team plays an Old North State League schedule against opponents from across North Carolina and southern Virginia\, with most games on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons or nights. Tickets are general admission and inexpensive\, so families tend to show up in groups\, find seats close to the action\, and stay through the seventh-inning stretch. \nThe pace is the appeal. Wood bats sound different from the metal you hear at most amateur fields\, the players are all college athletes spending their summer chasing reps\, and the gap between the action and the crowd is small enough that you can hear the catcher talking. Between innings\, the staff runs the kinds of small-park promotions that summer collegiate league has built its reputation on: t-shirt tosses\, on-field contests\, kids chasing foul balls in the gravel. If one of those players is staying with a host family two streets over\, you might see him at the diner the next morning. That’s the trade summer ball makes for not being a major-league night out: you get closer to the game\, and closer to the people playing it. \nVisiting from out of town? Pair a Yardbirds game with dinner in downtown Siler City beforehand\, or a slow drive home through Chatham County’s farm roads after the final out. \nWeather\nPack layers for night games\, as central North Carolina evenings can drop into the 60s in early summer. Summer thunderstorms are routine in the Piedmont\, and games can be delayed\, suspended\, or postponed. Check the Yardbirds’ Instagram\, Facebook\, or website on iffy weather days before driving out. The team sets refund and rain-check policies. \nLogistics\nOn-site and street parking will be available. This event takes place outdoors\, and the field is lighted for evening games. A concession stand operates at the complex with standard ballpark fare. This is a family-friendly event\, with group tickets available. Bring sunscreen\, a hat\, a light layer for night games\, a water bottle (non-glass)\, cash\, a card for concessions and merch\, and of course\, your glove! See more Chatham County Yardbirds games. SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The day’s work is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Tickets are available 8 weeks before your visit. \nSee more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue. \nBEFORE YOU VISIT \nThere are several things CTR would like you to know before booking your tour.
