SUMMARY:Kenda Kist - Spring 2026 Trunk Show
DESCRIPTION:Fri\, May 1-Sat\, May 2\, 10am-5pm\, Dovecote will host designer Kenda Kist as part of their Spring 2026 Trunk Show series – perfect for Mother’s Day! Kenda Kist jewelry blends fine materials with thoughtful\, artful design to create pieces that feel both modern and meaningful. Each creation emphasizes quality craftsmanship\, whether it’s a delicately sculpted necklace\, a refined bracelet\, or a standout ring. The line speaks to customers who want jewelry that feels personal and expressive without being overly ornate — pieces that elevate everyday outfits and also hold their own for special occasions. \nDovecote Home and Garden\, Nest\, and Sprout in Fearrington Village hosts trunk shows that afford one-on-one time with designers and opportunities to shop beyond their store offerings. Trunk Shows give you the chance to see an entire collection\, not just what they bring in for the store\, which means it is the only time that some sizes and colors are available in certain styles. Chatting with a rep or designer – the experts – gives you the best insight into what styles and sizes are perfect for you\, so you can be sure you’re getting pieces that you’ll treasure forever. Fearrington Village is part of the Chatham County Craft Beverages & Country Inns Trail. See more events at Fearrington Village.

SUMMARY:Tommy Hays\, The Marriage Bed
DESCRIPTION:Join McIntyre’s Books for Tommy Hays\, The Marriage Bed\, in conversation with Elaine Nell Orr on Sat\, May 2\, 11am-12pm. This free event takes place indoors. Free parking is available on-site. The space is wheelchair accessible. No pets allowed. Fearrington Village is part of the Chatham County Craft Beverages & Country Inns Trail. See more events at Fearrington Village. \nBOOK SUMMARY \nA poetry professor at a small college in Asheville\, NC\, Asa Flowers\, comes home one stormy evening to find his wife\, Betsy\, inexplicably distraught. As the evening goes on\, the couple ends up in a heated argument that sends Asa to sleep out in their garage apartment for the first time in twenty-five years of marriage. The next morning\, he wakes to blue sky and an altered world.    \nUnfolding over a few tense weeks and told from multiple points of view\, this novel explores how a tragedy can assume as many shapes as the people it touches. Asa finds himself reckoning with torn feelings about his marriage and confusion about how to proceed in his complicated relationships with his adult children. As he gradually absorbs revelations—so much he didn’t know or understand during his long marriage—he finds himself drawn uneasily toward a new world\, one in which he must shed much of his old identity if he is to survive and\, more important\, rededicate himself to being a father.  \nAUTHOR BIO \nTommy Hays is an acclaimed Southern writer\, whose fiction grows out of his emotional connections to places he’s lived and known—Greenville\, South Carolina; Asheville\, North Carolina; and Atlanta. His novels are The Pleasure Was Mine\, In the Family Way\, Sam’s Crossing\, and YA novel What I Came to Tell You. He has published stories\, profiles\, and book reviews in magazines\, newspapers\, and literary journals such as Redbook\, Our State\, The Atlanta Constitution\, The Charlotte Observer\, Smoky Mountain Living\, Still: The Journal\, The Chattahoochee Review\, and storySouth. The winner of many literary awards\, he is the founder and former Executive Director of the Great Smokies Writing Program\, UNC Asheville’s community writing program\, as well as Lecturer Emeritus in the Master of Liberal Arts program.

What does it feel like to really notice the world around you? Participants will meet at the S. Small Street entrance to the greenway. Please be mindful of neighbors’ lawns and driveways when parking. Bring your smartphone and headphones/earbuds! You will access the audio project on your phone and listen to it through your headphones while walking the greenway together. Make sure to bring a water bottle and shoes you can walk in! SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Tickets are available 8 weeks before your visit. \nSee more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue. \nBEFORE YOU VISIT \nThere are several things CTR would like you to know before booking your tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.

SUMMARY:Stories in Blue: A Community Indigo Project
DESCRIPTION:Join the Chatham Arts Council for Stories in Blue: A Community Indigo Project on Sun\, May 3\, 10am-3pm at the Chatham County Arts Center. Stories in Blue: A Community Indigo Project with Deena Class brings community members together through the shared wonder of indigo—how this one plant pigment has been worked with by cultures all over the world for thousands of years. \nThe project will culminate in free public workshops\, and participants will pre-register so that Deena can ensure adequate space\, supplies\, and materials. These workshops will take place in April 2026 and lead to the unveiling of the community indigo quilt in May 2026. During the workshops\, each participant will dye two fabric squares—one to take home and one to contribute to the community quilt—and each person will also receive an indigo seedling (Persicaria tinctoria) to nurture at home. In addition\, community members can attend free drop-in quilt-making sessions at the Chatham Parks and Rec Arts Center in downtown Pittsboro on May 3\, where they will piece and quilt the indigo creation together (no sewing experience necessary). Through the quilt\, the seedlings\, and the stories participants share\, the project will carry forward the idea that indigo belongs to everyone. It will honor indigo not only as a color or craft\, but also as a living thread that runs through generations and across cultures\, continents\, and communities. \nThis free community event takes place indoors. Free parking is available on-site. See more Chatham Arts Council events.

Transform your garden into a vibrant\, buzzing sanctuary for the creatures that keep our ecosystem thriving. This class is designed to help you look at your garden through the eyes of the wildlife that depends on it. FGS will feature common Piedmont pollinators\, from native bees and delicate butterflies to the high-energy hummingbirds that frequent our yards. They’ll explore the pollination process\, as well as the specific life cycles and nutritional needs of these vital species. Understanding these rhythms is the secret to moving beyond a “pretty” garden to a truly functional\, life-sustaining one. \nWhether you are starting with a blank slate or looking to enhance an established landscape\, you’ll leave with a curated list of native plants that provide high-impact support for our local winged friends. You will gain the foundational knowledge needed to foster a bird- and bee-friendly habitat right in your own backyard\, ensuring your garden is a place where nature can truly flourish. Come ready to learn how a few intentional choices can make a world of difference for our local environment.  \nInstructor Jeanne Arnts is a Durham County Extension Master Gardener and NC Journeyman Beekeeper and has certificates in Native Plants from the NC Botanical Garden and Bird Friendly Habitat Committee of the New Hope Bird Alliance. \nThe cost is $15 per person and includes a small gift and a coupon to shop at the Garden Center. Free parking is available on-site. See more events at For Garden’s Sake.

Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary.
