DESCRIPTION:The Toys and Games Camp at Clapping Hands Farm hosted Mon\, Jun 29-Fri\, Jul 3\, 9am-5pm is a joyous week of romping and running\, creative cooperative games\, and just pure playful fun\, including some traditional favorite games (yes – capture the flag!). Your children will spend the week entertaining themselves and one another using simple materials and raw imagination. This year’s featured toy-making projects have not yet been selected\, but previous years have included everything from traditional folk toys to hydraulic robots. \nIn the afternoon\, they have “Anything Goes” choice time\, where campers help design and can request or lead any of their favorite activities. This will include some of their favorite toy-making projects from years past: parachutes\, stomp rockets\, hula hoops\, puppets\, and puppet theaters are all on the list. For those who enjoy running around more\, there will be plenty of running game options in the afternoon as well! \nThe cost is $350 per child. Ages 7-13 are welcome. The team plays an Old North State League schedule against opponents from across North Carolina and southern Virginia\, with most games on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons or nights. Tickets are general admission and inexpensive\, so families tend to show up in groups\, find seats close to the action\, and stay through the seventh-inning stretch. \nThe pace is the appeal. Wood bats sound different from the metal you hear at most amateur fields\, the players are all college athletes spending their summer chasing reps\, and the gap between the action and the crowd is small enough that you can hear the catcher talking. Between innings\, the staff runs the kinds of small-park promotions that summer collegiate leagues have built their reputation on: t-shirt tosses\, on-field contests\, kids chasing foul balls in the gravel. If one of those players is staying with a host family two streets over\, you might see him at the diner the next morning. Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. SUMMARY:Summer Camps at Old Mill Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Old Mill Farm for 2026 Summer Camps\, hosted select weeks in June\, July\, and August\, 2026\, 8:30am-3pm. Each day offers new ideas and activities! Your child will learn how to enjoy the great outdoors in their beautiful 6-acre farm setting. Activities vary day to day\, but a bulk of a camper’s day will be spent outdoors tending to\, feeding\, and caring for the animals\, fishing in the pond\, collecting eggs for their farm stand\, doing farm crafts\, gardening\, playing outdoor games\, and learning about life on a farm. In addition to all the fun activities the farm has to offer\, they plan to host guest speakers/activities\, a STEAM-based project that campers will work on throughout the week\, and a Farm Entrepreneurship focus. \nAs a farm\, they are always on top of the weather and will adjust schedules accordingly. The farm offers its own microclimates and activity spaces\, so there’s lots of flexibility for activities. In the event of thunderstorms/adverse weather\, they have access to climate-controlled indoor spaces for campers to enjoy. Each week is limited to 40 campers\, with a camper-to-staff ratio of 7:1 to provide a safe and special experience for each camper. DESCRIPTION:Forest Tinkering Camp at Sun Star Farm is a small group of 12 campers led by 2 counselors. Forest Tinkering Camp is very different from Tinkering School’s format.  Campers spend most of the day in the forest based in the camp’s new shelter\, learning and developing a variety of outdoor skills: flint-knapping to make arrowheads\, chopping wood for daily campfires used for cooking\, gathering native plants\, making fishing nets\, building a water filtration system\, whittling sticks into tools\, improving in archery\, and telling stories of yesteryear. DESCRIPTION:New Beginnings Farm offers Summer Camps specializing in teaching basic balanced positions and horsemanship\, and in providing fun outdoor activities. Riding sessions will include trail rides\, riding with cows\, mounted games\, jumping\, dressage\, lunge lessons\, and bareback riding\, depending on the camper’s riding level and desires.  \nWhen not riding\, campers will learn all about horse care and participate in horse-related arts and crafts. The day is finished off with a self-packed lunch and supervised swimming. Campers with their own horse are welcome to keep their horse at New Beginnings Farm for the duration of the camp at no additional charge. They keep their camp numbers low to provide a more personal and safe environment\, so be sure to let them know if you are interested in attending so they can reserve your spot! Your children will spend the week entertaining themselves and one another using simple materials and raw imagination. This year’s featured toy-making projects have not yet been selected\, but previous years have included everything from traditional folk toys to hydraulic robots. \nIn the afternoon\, they have “Anything Goes” choice time\, where campers help design and can request or lead any of their favorite activities. This will include some of their favorite toy-making projects from years past: parachutes\, stomp rockets\, hula hoops\, puppets\, and puppet theaters are all on the list. For those who enjoy running around more\, there will be plenty of running game options in the afternoon as well! \nThe cost is $350 per child. Ages 7-13 are welcome.
