SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.

Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. The farm offers its own microclimates and activity spaces\, so there’s lots of flexibility for activities. In the event of thunderstorms/adverse weather\, they have access to climate-controlled indoor spaces for campers to enjoy. Each week is limited to 40 campers\, with a camper-to-staff ratio of 7:1 to provide a safe and special experience for each camper. Campers might take turns feeding goats\, gathering fresh eggs\, brushing pigs\, or cleaning pens—all while learning how to care for animals responsibly and kindly. After chores\, the adventure continues with nature goat hikes\, pond-side fishing\, and scavenger hunts that spark curiosity about local plants and wildlife. Creative afternoons bring arts and crafts inspired by farm life—such as painting goat portraits\, making leaf prints\, or building bird feeders from recycled materials. Campers also help prepare simple morning and afternoon snacks—think fresh fruit kabobs\, veggie wraps\, or homemade butter or goat cheese on crackers. By the end of the week\, each child will have new skills\, cherished memories\, and a strong sense of connection to animals\, nature\, and one another. \nThis is not a cooking camp\, unlike their past farm camps. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. DESCRIPTION:Join Old Mill Farm for 2026 Summer Camps\, hosted select weeks in June\, July\, and August\, 2026\, 8:30am-3pm. Each day offers new ideas and activities! Your child will learn how to enjoy the great outdoors in their beautiful 6-acre farm setting. Activities vary day to day\, but a bulk of a camper’s day will be spent outdoors tending to\, feeding\, and caring for the animals\, fishing in the pond\, collecting eggs for their farm stand\, doing farm crafts\, gardening\, playing outdoor games\, and learning about life on a farm. In addition to all the fun activities the farm has to offer\, they plan to host guest speakers/activities\, a STEAM-based project that campers will work on throughout the week\, and a Farm Entrepreneurship focus. \nAs a farm\, they are always on top of the weather and will adjust schedules accordingly. The farm offers its own microclimates and activity spaces\, so there’s lots of flexibility for activities. In the event of thunderstorms/adverse weather\, they have access to climate-controlled indoor spaces for campers to enjoy. Each week is limited to 40 campers\, with a camper-to-staff ratio of 7:1 to provide a safe and special experience for each camper.
