He lives in a rammed-earth house with his wife\, Ilana Dubester\, in Silk Hope\, North Carolina. Gary avidly reads poetry and anthropological science fiction\, studies amphibian activities on full moon nights\, and was once chair of the Chatham County Board of Commissioners.

Tree care is essential for a healthy tree. An unhealthy or stressed tree is more susceptible to pests and diseases. Promoting the health of your trees is likely to mitigate some of the risks to your property. Tim Wright will discuss some techniques and tools for tree care. Tim is a Board-Certified Master Arborist who can answer all your tree questions – from disease diagnosis to proper pruning techniques. DESCRIPTION:The 11th Annual Hispanic Heritage Fiesta on Sat\, Sep 21\, 12pm-6pm is an outdoor\, family-friendly celebration of rich Latin-American cultural traditions and the many contributions of Latinxs to the US. For the first time\, this event will take place at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center. El Vínculo Hispano/The Hispanic Liaison anticipates attracting over 5\,000 attendees this year. Everyone is welcome! \nThis year’s Hispanic Heritage Fiesta entertainment and activities include live Latin music\, taco trucks and other delicious foods\, Folkloric dance groups\, games for all ages\, a parade of quinceañeras & traditional Latin-American outfits\, an art exhibit\, and much more! DESCRIPTION:At For Garden’s Sake‘s Fall Container Workshop on Sat\, Sep 21\, 10am-11am and 1pm-2pm\, you’ll create a colorful fall container garden that you can show off all season long! Learn care tips and straightforward design techniques and unleash your creativity. Select your favorite colors with greenery and flowers to create that stunning “fill\, spill\, THRILL” look to complete your fall aesthetic. \nThe cost is $60 per participant and includes all necessary supplies and materials\, light snacks\, and a beverage (alcoholic and nonalcoholic options are available). To hold your spot\, you must pay at the time of registration. Registration without payment will be discarded. Register here for the 10am class and here for the 1pm class.
