DESCRIPTION:In Intermediate Home Mead Making -Melomels: Adding Fruit\, you will learn about melomels\, or mead with fruit\, ranging from dry-wine-like fruit meads to big “fruit bombs”. Does it make a difference if you add the fruit in the primary\, secondary\, or after fermentation? What about pectic haze – what causes it and what should you do about it? Starrlight will answer all these questions and more. You’ll also taste some examples of different fruit meads. \nThis class is $50 per person and $75 for groups of two. All class participants must be over 21! No exceptions. Register by Wed\, Jul 8 to participate. This event occurs Sat\, Jul 11\, 10am-1pm at Starrlight Mead. If you are purchasing this as a gift\, please let them know\, and they will send a gift certificate for the class for you to present to your loved one. \nThis is an intermediate class\, and attendees must have a basic understanding of home mead-making processes\, equipment\, and terminology\, as well as have made a few batches of home mead. The 2026 champion gains an exemption into the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open and an invitation to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur\, meaning this year’s winner could be competing on the LPGA Tour within a few seasons. \nOld Chatham has a Durham mailing address but sits in Chatham County on the northeast shore of Jordan Lake. The field of 156 plays two days of stroke play (July 13–14) before the cut to 64 for match play\, building to a 36-hole final on Saturday\, July 18. Old Chatham is a Rees Jones design that opened in 2001 and is set on 400 acres of protected pine woodlands. DESCRIPTION:Try your hand at an obscure Canadian board game with Crokinole at Fair Game Beverage Company\, hosted every third Wednesday\, 6pm-8pm in the Wheelhouse. Crokinole is a classic Canadian tabletop game — think shuffleboard meets curling\, shrunk onto a round wooden board. It’s easy to learn in a single round and genuinely fun whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned shooter\, and newcomers are always welcome. \nHere’s how it works: Two players (or four\, in teams) sit across from each other and take turns flicking small wooden discs from the outer edge toward the center of the board. The bullseye is a recessed hole in the middle worth 20 points; concentric scoring rings count for less the farther out you land. Guarding the center is a ring of eight small pegs that your disc has to navigate around. \nIf your opponent has any discs on the board\, your shot has to hit one of them. Miss\, and your disc is removed. If the board is clear\, you have to land inside the innermost peg ring\, or your disc comes off. So every turn is a choice between attacking your opponent’s pieces and quietly racking up points of your own. DESCRIPTION:This night-time sonic ceremony is back by popular demand! Candleglow Sound Bath Meditation returns on the third Friday of each month from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at Starrlight Mead for a candle-lit evening sound bath featuring a variety of singing bowls\, chimes\, and percussion accompanying the human voice. Honoring seasonal cycles\, Ancient Song Therapy crafts sonic landscapes conducive to relaxation\, meditation\, journey work\, and integration. \nThis event costs $25 per person and is held indoors. DESCRIPTION:Join The City Tap for Live Music with Too Much Fun! on Fri\, Jul 17\, 7:30pm-9:30pm. Too Much Fun! has been entertaining audiences for almost 40 years. They’ve walked a wide line of roots-based sounds from jumping and swinging to rocking and rolling\, and through the tunnels of rhythm and blues. With a slight recent change in the lineup\, they have upped the ante on the R&B and even delved into a little soul. Their set lists include many originals mixed with material from other musical vaults. In all cases\, it’s hard not to dance to these guys or be entertained by their stage manners. Dancing and smiling\, who doesn’t like that? They’ve been doing it a long time\, and there’s a reason for that……they wouldn’t know what else to do. Come see for yourself.  \nThis event takes place at The City Tap. There is no cover charge for this event\, but tipping the musicians is recommended. The patio is wheelchair-accessible from the back of the building. There is a lift to the second floor\, and the service area is located on the secondary staircase that connects to the patio. DESCRIPTION:As part of Chatham County’s year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday\, the Chatham County Historical Association (CCHA) is hosting an NC History Book Club: Between the Lines\, held on the third Saturday of every month in 2026\, from 9:30am-10:30am. This monthly book club will explore North Carolina’s rich history through engaging nonfiction. Whether you’re a lifelong history lover or are simply curious about the people and events that shaped our state\, join CCHA for conversation and lively discussion. \nRegister here for the June 2026 session\, where you will discuss Fire on the Beach: Recovering the Lost Story of Richard Etheridge and the Pea Island Lifesavers by David Wright and David Zoby. Fire on the Beach explores the dangers of 19th-century coastal transportation along North Carolina’s “Graveyard of the Atlantic\,” where ships carrying goods and people faced constant danger. Through the story of Richard Etheridge and the all-black crew of the US Life-Saving Service\, the crew faced discrimination and the dangers of the Atlantic\, yet rose to heroism in their service. Participation is free\, and you are welcome to bring friends. This month’s event takes place Sat\, Jun 20\, 9:30am-10:30am at the Chatham County Courthouse and Historical Museum. \nAll are welcome\, and admission is free. Sell your vintage\, antiques\, and secondhand goods\, share items you’re ready to pass along\, or simply come hunt for a good find. Shop\, wander\, and enjoy food and drinks from The Plant businesses throughout the day – grab coffee from Metal Brixx and Brunch at Ta Contento. Find vintage\, antiques\, secondhand goods\, jewelry\, furniture\, rugs\, lamps\, tools\, and oddities. \nThink cafe meets flea market\, meets arts and crafts\, meets Facebook market. It’s meant to be a gathering spot for children and dogs and a little neighbor-to-neighbor trading. You might also see some local produce pop up from Little Pond Gardens and other tenants! \nThe vendor fee is $15 – you can apply here. Free and convenient parking. Free entry. Fully accessible. Family\, kid\, and leashed pet friendly. \nMost events are rain or shine; if they have to cancel\, they will do so as far in advance as possible. Leashed\, well-behaved pets are allowed outside; pet policies indoors vary by individual business. The Plant is accessible to guests and will do its best to accommodate any additional requests.
