SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Tickets are available 8 weeks before your visit. \nSee more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue. \nBEFORE YOU VISIT \nThere are several things CTR would like you to know before booking your tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.

DESCRIPTION:Join The Plant for Live Music with Bluegrass Battleship on Fri\, Mar 20\, 6pm-8pm. The Bluegrass Battleship has had a ton of fun playing in the area for almost fifteen years now and has developed a loyal following. They feature tight\, intricate harmonies and some pretty fine instrumental work. They have released one CD and played gigs in the Adirondack Mountains and locally at Full Steam\, Carrboro Music Festival\, Bynum Front Porch\, University Place\, Johnny’s Coffee House\, Chapel Hill Country Club\, and many\, many private and church events. The band plays an eclectic assortment of acoustic music ranging from bluegrass to Beethoven. Included are Terry Baker on banjo and dobro\, Scott Provan on Guitar\, Catherine Grodensky on mandolin\, Eileen Regan on Fiddle\, Marc Alperin on bass\, and vocalist Jane Provan. \nSip and shop the Chatham Beverage District\, part of the Chatham County Craft Beverages & Country Inns Trail\, with local beers from bmc brewing\, wines and ciders from Starrlight\, spirits from Fair Game\, and sake from Koshu. Local dining available at Kingston 99 Kitchen and Ta Contento. \nThere is no cover for music\, but tips for the musicians are encouraged. Most events are rain or shine; if they have to cancel\, they will do so as far in advance as possible. Free parking is available onsite. Leashed\, well-behaved pets are allowed outside; pet policies may vary by individual business. The Plant is accessible to guests and will do its best to accommodate any additional requests. Fire on the Beach explores the dangers of 19th-century coastal transportation along North Carolina’s “Graveyard of the Atlantic\,” where ships carrying goods and people faced constant danger. Through the story of Richard Etheridge and the all-black crew of the US Life-Saving Service\, the crew faced discrimination and the dangers of the Atlantic\, yet rose to heroism in their service. SUMMARY:The Art of Gelatin Printing
DESCRIPTION:At The Art of Gelatin Printing on Sat\, Mar 21\, 10am-1pm\, participants will learn about the versatile art of gelatin printing. Techniques to be incorporated will include paint layering\, stencil use\, eco-printing\, photo transfer\, and plate drawing. Participants will leave with a variety of prints they have created and the knowledge to perform gelatin printing independently. Prints can be used as standalone art or incorporated into a variety of other art forms\, which will be discussed. \nSupplies are included. This one-class session is instructed by Chatham Artist Guild member Gretchen Kapity. Registration opens Mon\, Feb 9\, and closes Mon\, Mar 16. This event is held indoors at the new Chatham County Parks\, Recreation\, and Cultural Resources (CCPRCR) Arts Center\, located at 964 East Street\, Suite 105\, Pittsboro\, NC 23712\, on the backside of the building. To access the studio\, drive straight through the open gate and look for the sign that reads “Arts Center.” Visual Arts participants may park in the back lot. \nThere is no fee to participate\, but registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.

Students will spend a morning on each of the following topics: \n\nAnimal Behavior: What is it\, and how can understanding it help us better care for animals?\nEnclosure Design and Enrichment: What requirements have to be met to house large and small carnivores? What does it take to keep our animals physically and mentally healthy?\nVet Care: What happens when an animal gets sick? How do we care for aging animals? What challenges does our animal care staff face with our animals in terms of health?\nProblems in the Wild: What problems do the wild cousins of our residents face? What can we do to help?\n\nThis fast-paced\, STEM-centered program is sure to keep your student engaged while learning about unique challenges that arise when caring for large and small wild cats!
