Drawing on the personal stories of people living in the Triangle area\, the film sheds light on common misconceptions and the cultural silence that often surrounds end-of-life care in these underserved communities. \nNarrated by Grammy-nominated jazz artist Nnenna Freelon\, the film amplifies a chorus of voices—families\, caregivers\, spiritual leaders\, and healthcare professionals—offering a compassionate and multifaceted view of this critical time in life. These stories are especially timely in light of findings from the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO)\, which show that Black Americans on Medicare are 13% less likely to use hospice and palliative care than their white counterparts—a disparity that underscores the urgent need for culturally sensitive outreach and education. \nThis free event is co-sponsored by heart2heartnc\, WEBB Squared\, El Vinculo Hispano/Hispanic Liaison\, and The Fenwick Foundation. The family’s mission is to bring all kids back to the outdoors with the goal of making many of the farm activities wheelchair-accessible and autism-friendly. \nHuckleberry Trail Farm celebrated 10 years in 2021. Explore the corn maze\, pumpkins\, and fall decorations\, and purchase refreshments. Take a ride on a tractor-drawn hayride (for transportation down to the pumpkin patch). Merchandise is available on-site for purchase\, too. Guests to the farm will find a pumpkin patch (cut your own pumpkin right off the vine)\, a cotton patch\, and a mini Field of Dreams. \nHours\, Directions\, & Pricing \nSaturdays\, 10am-6pm and Sundays\, 1pm-6pm. \nThe last ticket is sold one hour before closing. The last hayride is 30 minutes before closing. Through firsthand accounts and deep research\, Justin Laborde brings their stories of courage\, sacrifice\, and survival vividly to life. \nScattered Far and Wide tells the war stories of U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen from the Class of 1938. Commissioned on the eve of World War II\, they bore the new burden of command while at the forefront of the Pacific War’s most significant and most pivotal campaigns. The last hayride is 30 minutes before closing. During this non-partisan community celebration of civic engagement\, you’ll enjoy a short program with drag performances\, followed by a group trip to the polls (by shuttle\, carpool\, or drive yourself) for early voting at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center.  \nA free shuttle will be provided 10:30am-3:30pm for easy round-trip voting. Costumes are encouraged; dressing up to vote is allowed as long as it follows electioneering and ID rules. Any Chatham County resident can vote at this site\, no matter where in the county you live. After voting\, stick around for The Get Down at The Plant. All are welcome! LGBTQ+ community\, allies\, friends & neighbors. This is a non-partisan event.  \nThis event takes place indoors and outdoors at The Plant and the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center (CCACC). CCACC is ADA-compliant. If you spot someone wearing a special badge\, they have candy for trick-or-treaters. There will also be live music\, pumpkin painting (supplies included with the purchase of a pumpkin)\, and fall drinks for sale at The Potting Shed.
