GreenWood Wrights’Fest is a semi-annual gathering of spoon carvers\, bowl turners\, chair makers\, basket weavers\, and toolsmiths united by a passion for crafting with traditional methods. The main festival features formal classes taught by renowned instructors\, while additional gatherings foster casual collaboration and community building. \nLearn new skills and techniques to enhance your greenwood craftsmanship at The Plant. Bring your hammock and best camping recipe\, and prepare to make some memories! The festival offers both beginner and advanced workshops on carving spoons\, as well as numerous other areas of green woodworking. Shorter classes for kids ages 10-14 will be offered on basic knife skills. The festival also features demonstrations that explore the history and culture of green woodworking\, tree identification\, splint harvesting\, tool sharpening\, and lathe turning. \nBasic facilities are provided\, but please note that this is a camping environment. Check the website for a list of recommended items to bring. Instructors’ wares are sold in Cara’s GreenWood Marketplace; attendees are welcome to sell and trade on their own or may apply to be in the Marketplace. \nSee more events at The Plant. \nFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS \nIs there a fee to attend? \nIt’s free to visit The Plant and explore the lovely hand-carved objects sold at Cara’s GreenWood Marketplace. DESCRIPTION:Try your hand at an obscure Canadian board game with Crokinole at Fair Game Beverage Company\, hosted every third Wednesday\, 6pm-8pm in the Wheelhouse. Crokinole is a classic Canadian tabletop game — think shuffleboard meets curling\, shrunk onto a round wooden board. It’s easy to learn in a single round and genuinely fun whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned shooter\, and newcomers are always welcome. \nHere’s how it works: Two players (or four\, in teams) sit across from each other and take turns flicking small wooden discs from the outer edge toward the center of the board. The bullseye is a recessed hole in the middle worth 20 points; concentric scoring rings count for less the farther out you land. Guarding the center is a ring of eight small pegs that your disc has to navigate around. \nIf your opponent has any discs on the board\, your shot has to hit one of them. Miss\, and your disc is removed. If the board is clear\, you have to land inside the innermost peg ring\, or your disc comes off. So every turn is a choice between attacking your opponent’s pieces and quietly racking up points of your own. This event is at West End Emporium: 23 Rectory Street\, Pittsboro\, NC 27312. Create your own Turkish mosaic moon lamp! In this class\, you will create gorgeous patterns from colorful\, cut pieces of glass\, which will be applied to your glass shade and later grouted. Wine & Design will provide the template and materials; all you need is your excitement. Once your creation is complete\, you will be glowing with joy. All alcohol is available for purchase through West End Kitchen via the Pittsboro Downtown Social District. No outside alcohol allowed at this location. There will also be a full-service menu available from West End Kitchen if you wish to purchase food or snacks. Please arrive 15 minutes early to purchase any food or beverages. \nThis class is $129 per person. Payments can be made online. Classes last approximately 2 1/2 hours. This is an ADULT event. 18 and up. Each person present in the studio must have a paid seat. Participants ages 15 and up can come with a guardian; both must have paid tickets. Please tell them in the special notes section at checkout if you have a minor aged 15-18. If meeting a friend(s)\, please list the names so you can be seated together. Parking is available in front of the building\, with additional parking available in the back lot to the right of West End Emporium.
