DESCRIPTION:Come out for a night of baseball and watch Chatham Yardbirds vs Sanford Spinners at Bray Park Sports Complex on the following dates: \n\nSun\, May 31\, 6pm-9pm.\nTue\, Jun 23\, 7pm-10pm.\nFri\, Jul 10\, 7pm-10pm.\n\nGates typically open about an hour before first pitch. The team plays an Old North State League schedule against opponents from across North Carolina and southern Virginia\, with most games on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons or nights. Tickets are general admission and inexpensive\, so families tend to show up in groups\, find seats close to the action\, and stay through the seventh-inning stretch. \nThe pace is the appeal. Wood bats sound different from the metal you hear at most amateur fields\, the players are all college athletes spending their summer chasing reps\, and the gap between the action and the crowd is small enough that you can hear the catcher talking. Between innings\, the staff runs the kinds of small-park promotions that summer collegiate league has built its reputation on: t-shirt tosses\, on-field contests\, kids chasing foul balls in the gravel. If one of those players is staying with a host family two streets over\, you might see him at the diner the next morning. That’s the trade summer ball makes for not being a major-league night out: you get closer to the game\, and closer to the people playing it. \nVisiting from out of town? Pair a Yardbirds game with dinner in downtown Siler City beforehand\, or a slow drive home through Chatham County’s farm roads after the final out. \nWeather\nPack layers for night games\, as central North Carolina evenings can drop into the 60s in early summer. Summer thunderstorms are routine in the Piedmont\, and games can be delayed\, suspended\, or postponed. Check the Yardbirds’ Instagram\, Facebook\, or website on iffy weather days before driving out. The team sets refund and rain-check policies. \nLogistics\nOn-site and street parking will be available. This event takes place outdoors\, and the field is lighted for evening games. DESCRIPTION:Ready for an unforgettable summer? Register for a CCCC Junior Chef Cooking Camp\, hosted Mon\, Jun 22-Thu\, Jun 25\, 8:30am-12pm. This camp is for students ages 10-15 who share a passion for cooking and possibly a career in Culinary Arts. Students will prepare a variety of items\, including entrees\, appetizers\, and soups. The cost is $130 per student.  \nThe Continuing Education Department at Central Carolina Community College offers affordable\, high-quality\, fun learning opportunities for young people in Chatham County of all ages and interests. Their camps provide opportunities for learning\, engagement\, and discovery. Snacks are included in these camps. SUMMARY:Cool Creek Farm Summer Camps
DESCRIPTION:Join Cool Creek Farm for Summer Camps\, hosted during select weeks in June\, July\, and August 2026. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. She is thrilled to share her farm and watch the kids find their way and feel joy in this setting. \nCAMP DATES & DETAILS \nCamp is held during the following weeks: \n\nMon\, Jun 15-Thu\, Jun 18\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 22-Thu\, Jun 25\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jun 29-Thu\, Jul 2\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 13-Thu\, Jul 16\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 20-Thu\, Jul 23\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Jul 27-Thu\, Jul 30\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 10-Thu\, Aug 13\, 8:30am-2pm.\nMon\, Aug 17-Thu\, Aug 20\, 8:30am-2pm.\n\nEach week is limited to 8-16 campers\, ages 6-9 (rising 1st-4th graders)\, with an adult-to-camper ratio of 1:8 or better. There is sunscreen at camp. Please indicate if your child is allergic to any sunscreens and cannot use the sunscreen provided by the camp if the child forgets theirs.\nBug spray.\nClosed-toe shoes and shoes for water play (Crocs or water shoes).\nSun hat.\nChange clothes in a Ziplock Bag for accidents or wet clothing.\nTowel.\nTall socks (to avoid blisters with boots).\n\nCamp is $395 per camper per week. DESCRIPTION:The Pittsboro Farmers Market is open year-round and features select items from within a 50-mile radius. They are open every Thursday\, 3pm-6pm at Pittsboro’s Pop-Up Park. The product-only market features baked goods\, eggs\, flowers\, honey\, jams/jellies\, soaps\, plants\, poultry\, and other meats. Vendors include Celebrity Dairy\, In Good Heart Farm\, and Vortex Roasters. Many chefs at restaurants in our area network with Pittsboro Farmers Market vendors\, including Kingston 99 Kitchen and West End Kitchen & Catering. You can find a complete\, up-to-date list of vendors here. \nSpecial markets are hosted on occasion. \nThe Pittsboro Farmers Market takes place outdoors\, rain or shine. Leashed\, well-behaved pets are allowed. Entry is free. Bringing your own bags\, cash\, and a cooler for perishable items is advised.
