Those who attend this one can enter a raffle to win a FREE backyard compost bin and kitchen collector\, courtesy of Chatham County Solid Waste and Recycling. Attendees can also participate in a plant swap\, with some donated plants from the Plant’s own Rachel’s Native Plants nursery. Free appetizers will also be available\, due to the support of McGill Environmental Systems. Those interested in attending this free event are encouraged to RSVP here.  \nSip and shop the Chatham Beverage District\, part of the Chatham County Craft Beverages & Country Inns Trail\, with local beers from bmc brewing\, wines and ciders from Starrlight\, spirits from Fair Game\, and sake from Koshu. SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The day’s work is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. DESCRIPTION:Friends of Lower Haw is offering another outing in its “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” hiking series in the Lower Haw River State Natural Area\, this time with a Gabriel’s Bend Overlook Hike on Fri\, May 8\, 6pm-7pm. Join Outdoor NC Guide & Haw River native Ben Clarke and his trusty dog Rocco for a spectacular 1.5-mile round-trip evening hike down the west bank of the Haw from Highway 64. You’ll pass some of the most famous rapids on the river and lots of native mountain laurel\, which should be at the peak of their flowering season! The hike will take us to Gabriel’s Bend\, a Class III rapid where the Haw has cut a mighty cliff out of the riverbank. The trail climbs this cliff to a unique overlook surveying more than a mile of the river!  \nPlease be aware that this hike involves plenty of rock scrambling\, uneven ground on informal trails\, and the risk of poison ivy\, ticks\, and mosquitoes. Sturdy shoes\, bug spray\, and water are recommended! Friendly dogs on leash are welcome but may struggle with the terrain. SUMMARY:Bald Eagle Search Paddle with Two Sisters Adventure Company
DESCRIPTION:Join Two Sisters Adventure Company for a Bald Eagle Search Paddle at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area\, hosted on select dates throughout 2026. Jordan Lake is one of the best Bald Eagle viewing locations in the region. You will paddle past multiple nesting areas in search of our majestic national bird. While sightings are not guaranteed\, Bald Eagles are most common in the areas they visit. Your guide will help you identify and answer questions about Bald Eagles and other birds in the area. All participants should have basic kayaking skills\, due to the duration on the water this trip is considered intermediate. Pre-registration is required. Participants will launch from the Farrington Point Access. The trip will last approximately 4 hours. Trips will take place on the following dates: \n\nThu\, Mar 26\, 9am-1pm.\nSun\, Apr 26\, 8:30am-12:30pm.\nSat\, May 9\, 8am-12pm.\nSat\, May 30\, 8am-12pm.\nSun\, Jun 7\, 8am-12pm.\n\nTwo Sisters works with all guests to make trips as accessible as possible. Please contact them with any specific accessibility requests so they can ensure they have all the necessary equipment and staff. Free parking is available at the Farrington Point Canoe Launch. No pets are allowed. The cost is $60 per person\, and pre-registration is required. Single-person kayaks are provided.
