SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. SUMMARY:Gabriel's Bend Overlook Hike
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Lower Haw is offering another outing in its “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” hiking series in the Lower Haw River State Natural Area\, this time with a Gabriel’s Bend Overlook Hike on Fri\, May 8\, 6pm-7pm. Join Outdoor NC Guide & Haw River native Ben Clarke and his trusty dog Rocco for a spectacular 1.5-mile round-trip evening hike down the west bank of the Haw from Highway 64. You’ll pass some of the most famous rapids on the river and lots of native mountain laurel\, which should be at the peak of their flowering season! The hike will take us to Gabriel’s Bend\, a Class III rapid where the Haw has cut a mighty cliff out of the riverbank. The trail climbs this cliff to a unique overlook surveying more than a mile of the river!  \nPlease be aware that this hike involves plenty of rock scrambling\, uneven ground on informal trails\, and the risk of poison ivy\, ticks\, and mosquitoes. Sturdy shoes\, bug spray\, and water are recommended! Friendly dogs on leash are welcome but may struggle with the terrain. DESCRIPTION:The Bynum Front Porch Music Series takes place every Friday\, May-Aug\, 7pm-8:30pm at the Historic Bynum General Store\, featuring a variety of bands spanning multiple musical genres\, including gospel\, folk\, blues\, rockabilly\, and bluegrass. You can park at the Bynum ball field or in the field adjacent to the store. Doors open at 6:30pm\, and food trucks are on-site. Directions. There is an outdoor stage (and an indoor one if it rains). No pets or alcohol. This event is open to the public and admission is free – no tickets required. A hat is passed around to collect contributions. All participants should have basic kayaking skills\, due to the duration on the water this trip is considered intermediate. Pre-registration is required. Participants will launch from the Farrington Point Access. The trip will last approximately 4 hours. Watch the animals play with and destroy holiday-themed enrichment\, then indulge in some edible holiday enrichment of your own! \nThe upcoming schedule for Holiday Enrichment Tours is below: \n\nSat\, May 9\, 2pm-4pm – Mother’s Day Weekend.\nSun\, May 10\, 2pm-4pm – Mother’s Day Weekend.\n\nAdvance tickets are required for all attendees (no walk-ins). Tours last around 1.5-2 hours\, and are offered on select holiday weekends throughout the year\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 for individuals aged 13 and above\, and $26 for those aged 0-12\, with a maximum of 25 people allowed per tour. Tickets are available 8 weeks before your visit. \nSee more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue. \n BEFORE YOU VISIT \nThere are several things CTR would like you to know before booking your tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nIf a minor child is not accompanied by their parent\, the parent must complete a Combined Minor Release Form and bring it in at the time of your tour.\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging for those with limited mobility. Golf carts are available to assist guests who need them. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.
