Vidas is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Chatham County residents by increasing access to education\, technology\, and healthcare. In particular\, Vidas runs a free dental and medical clinic on the last Saturday of every month in Siler City. Anna’s father\, a physician at UNC for 50 years\, works at the clinic and got UNC Hospitals involved – they now send physicians and dentists to work at the clinic monthly.  This is an entirely non-profit organization – 100% of any funds received go directly to the mission. No doctors or owners receive any payment. \nTo generate funds for Vidas\, Vino!! is hosting this night of giving. The cost is $150 per person and includes an evening of connection and fun during a wine tasting experience\, featuring a curated selection of high-end wines\, light bites\, and a heartfelt mission. SUMMARY:18th Annual PepperFest
DESCRIPTION:The Plant presents the 18th Annual PepperFest on Sun\, Sep 14\, 12pm-6pm. PepperFest is a celebration of sustainable agriculture\, local farmers\, and the creativity of the Piedmont’s top chefs\, brewers\, and artisans. The event features peppers grown on-site in the Pepper Patch\, a hot sauce contest\, a variety of Pepper-Themed food and drinks from The Plant denizens\, a chili cook-off\, pop-up vendors\, live music\, and many more pepper-related activities. The average distance traveled by this year’s peppers can be measured as roughly fifty yards. \nPepperFest originated in Pittsboro in 2007 to support Doug Jones’s plant breeding work at Piedmont Biofarm. At the first PepperFest\, visitors walked through a tent filled with raw pepper samples and filled out surveys on clipboards before they could receive a beer. Doug was licensing his seeds to seed companies\, and he needed consumer data to back up his work in pepper genetics. \n \nTouch the pepper patch and physically see the difference between a poblano and a Marconi pepper on the vine. You’ll also see the Scotch Bonnets (Jamaica’s national pepper) before they are picked for dishes served at Kingston 99 Kitchen. You’ll also see how Flying Pepper Vodka is made at Fair Game Beverage Company\, using Aji Dulce Tobago peppers grown in The Plant’s pepper patch. \nGrab a pepper beer from bmc brewing\, food at Kingston 99 Kitchen or JDub’s PoBoys\, and wander The Plant’s eclectic campus. \nThis event is free to the public\, and tickets are not required for this year’s event. Grab food from Kingston 99 Kitchen\, JDub’s PoBoys\, Metal Brixx Cafe\, and Ta Contento. \nThis year’s event takes place Sat\, Sep 27\, 12pm-5pm. Take a walk through downtown Pittsboro for an evening filled with local folklore and historical reenactments. The tour blends Chatham’s rich heritage with stories and legends\, all presented by costumed interpreters portraying figures from the town’s past. \nThe journey begins at the historic courthouse and winds through old cemeteries\, churches\, and hidden corners\, with each stop offering a window into the lives of the people and moments that shaped Pittsboro. The tour will take place on the following dates: \n\nSat\, Oct 18\, 5:30pm-7:30pm.\nSun\, Oct 19\, 5:30pm-7:30pm.\n\nEVENT DETAILS \n\nCheck-in is at 5:15pm\, with the tour starting promptly at 5:30pm both days.\nAge Requirement: 12 years and older only (no pets or strollers).\nWeather: Rain or shine (rescheduled only in case of severe weather).\nThis tour takes place indoors and outside\, lasting between 90 and 120 minutes.\nBring a flashlight. Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes.\nA liability waiver will be required at check-in.\nLimited to 60 participants per evening\, split into three small groups for a more personal experience.\nFree parking is available behind the new Chatham County Courthouse and Justice Center.\nPets are not allowed; please leave your furry friends at home.\nAccessibility: Tour participants will need to be able to navigate stairs\, outdoor sidewalks\, and grassy areas.\n\nTickets are $25 for CCHA members and $30 per person for nonmembers. He’s teaming up with Tyler Morgan of Authentique Vin to craft a truly unforgettable French experience in honor of the famous French Chef Jacques Pépin\, whose 90th birthday is approaching. \nBorn and raised in the Netherlands\, Chef Baptist came to the US in 2003 to open Café Zito in Morehead City. It was the first Mediterranean/Tapas-style bistro on the southern coast and became immensely popular. In 2011\, he moved from the coast and took over the small French restaurant\, Provence\, in Carrboro. Chef Baptist developed it into one of the finest French bistros around\, earning many accolades in magazines\, guest appearances at various local restaurants\, teaching classes at Southern Season\, and a five-time guest chef at the Beaufort Wine and Food Festival. It became a top-five “Sunday Brunch” restaurant on OpenTable’s national list of best restaurants. In 2023\, Chef Baptist sold the restaurant to focus on another passion – dog training and competition.
