SUMMARY:Art Party Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:The Art Party Camp at Clapping Hands Farm\, hosted Mon\, Jun 15-Fri\, Jun 19\, 9am-2pm\, is a family camp for parents and young children to enjoy together. Each day\, the Clapping Hands Farm team sets out a spectacular array of visual arts exploration\, and a different guest artist shares music and dance experiences for an all-around fun time. At their art party\, come ready to: \n\nFinger paint.\nMake colorful slime.\nPlay in shaving cream.\nDraw with pastels\, colored chalk\, and other mediums.\nLearn to embroider on burlap or sew your own stuffed animal.\nMake your own toys.\n\nAnd so much more! Much of the day will be for adults and children to enjoy together. Each afternoon\, they offer a workshop with their guest artist specifically for creative exploration and rejuvenation for parents\, while other artists and camp counselors work with the children. Singing games provide a lively morning circle\, and days will end with a closing circle and a story told by Louise. \nThe cost is $350 for the first child + parents and $275 for each additional child. It is $50 for babies and toddlers under 2. Ages 2-8 and their parents are welcome. Per-day registration is $75 for the first child + parents\, $50 for each additional child\, and $10 for babies and toddlers under 2. Since pricing is so complicated\, no discounts are available for this camp\, but scholarships are available\, and no one is turned away. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. DESCRIPTION:Community Organizing for Racial Equity (CORE) welcomes you to participate in their Annual Juneteenth Black Arts Festival on Sat\, Jun 20\, 2026\, 2pm-6pm at the Chatham County Fairgrounds. Since 2018\, the Juneteenth event has undergone significant transformation\, growing from its initial location\, which accommodated 100 people\, to one that now draws over 3\,000 attendees from across the Triangle region. \nJuneteenth Black Arts Festival is a dedicated space of reverence for the impact of Black arts and culture on American culture. They commit to offering an opportunity for Black artists and entrepreneurs to build relationships and increase their exposure across communities. They honor the creative genius and spirit of excellence that prevails within the Black community because they recognize barriers that remain in place today\, excluding them from mainstream business opportunities. \nAll are welcome to this free community event. They have quite a festival planned for this year’s celebration\, which will highlight Black artists\, both local and from afar; educational opportunities about Juneteenth\, the history of the celebration\, and the resilience of Black culture through Black arts; and a vision for liberation. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment\, art\, a Black business expo\, food trucks\, a heritage walk\, and kids’ activities\, all while challenging stereotypes and building pride in the dynamic heritage of Black Americans and American culture. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. SUMMARY:Summer Camps at Old Mill Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Old Mill Farm for 2026 Summer Camps\, hosted select weeks in June\, July\, and August\, 2026\, 8:30am-3pm. Each day offers new ideas and activities! Your child will learn how to enjoy the great outdoors in their beautiful 6-acre farm setting. Activities vary day to day\, but a bulk of a camper’s day will be spent outdoors tending to\, feeding\, and caring for the animals\, fishing in the pond\, collecting eggs for their farm stand\, doing farm crafts\, gardening\, playing outdoor games\, and learning about life on a farm. In addition to all the fun activities the farm has to offer\, they plan to host guest speakers/activities\, a STEAM-based project that campers will work on throughout the week\, and a Farm Entrepreneurship focus. \nAs a farm\, they are always on top of the weather and will adjust schedules accordingly. The farm offers its own microclimates and activity spaces\, so there’s lots of flexibility for activities. In the event of thunderstorms/adverse weather\, they have access to climate-controlled indoor spaces for campers to enjoy. Each week is limited to 40 campers\, with a camper-to-staff ratio of 7:1 to provide a safe and special experience for each camper. DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Lower Haw for the third event in their “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” hiking series with a Haw River Lowlands Hike on Mon\, Jun 22\, 6pm-7pm at Lower Haw River State Natural Area. Outdoor NC Guide & Haw River native Ben Clarke and his trusty dog Rocco will guide you along this lovely 2-mile round-trip loop evening hike along the east bank of the Haw between Highway 64 and the start of Jordan Lake. You’ll cross several creeks\, pass some of the river’s most famous rapids\, and marvel at unique sights like the cactus boulder and cedar rock! \nDIRECTIONS \n\nFrom Pittsboro: Take US 64 East toward Apex. Slow down on the bridge crossing the Haw River. Immediately after crossing the river\, there is a small gravel parking area on the right. Parking is limited. For your safety\, do not park along the highway.\nFrom Apex: Take US 64 west\, headed towards Pittsboro. After crossing over the Haw River\, make a U-turn at the first left and head east on US 64 back over the Haw River. Slow down on the bridge crossing the Haw River. Immediately after crossing the river\, there is a small gravel parking area on the right.\n\nParking is limited. For your safety\, do not park along the highway. SUMMARY:Cool Creek Farm Summer Camps
DESCRIPTION:Join Cool Creek Farm for Summer Camps\, hosted during select weeks in June\, July\, and August 2026. Camp days follow an easy flow that starts with a morning circle and conversation\, and reading aloud of quality children’s literature. The bulk of the day is spent with campers choosing their own activities and using their imaginations. Campers can snack whenever they like\, but lunch is eaten together\, sometimes as a picnic under the Bald Cypress or giant Ash tree\, and then they read some more! Camp weeks are enhanced by a special visitor every Wednesday morning. A structured activity or form of entertainment is shared with the whole group. Seasonal free-play options throughout the day include: \n\nSports\, games\, and play structures.\nCrafts.\nCreek and sand play.\nVisiting with the goats and collecting eggs.\nFort building and tree climbing.\nSlip-n-sliding with a break for homemade popsicles.\nTrail walks and campfires.\n\nCamps occur on a 26-acre farm in Pittsboro\, NC\, run by Camp Director Melissa Frey and her adult daughter\, Marinne. Melissa provides structure\, safety\, and supplies to help campers accomplish their ideas for the day. Melissa is passionate about the benefits of significant free-play time for all ages\, away from electronics. You’ll join one of their trained team members for a fun and engaging story time before creating an animal-themed take-home craft. After all masterpieces are created\, you’ll head out into the sanctuary for an opportunity to see some of CTR’s most iconic resident animals up close. This tour is offered only once a month\, and tickets sell out quickly\, so get yours today! \nThe upcoming schedule for Tiger Tales Tours is below: \n\nWed\, Mar 18\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Apr 22\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, May 20\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Jun 24\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Jul 22\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Aug 19\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Sep 23\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Oct 21\, 9am-11:30am.\nWed\, Nov 11\, 9am-11:30am.\n\nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.

SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.
