DESCRIPTION:At All About Seeds\, Painting\, and Planting on Thu\, Apr 2\, 10am-11:30am\, you’ll join The Therapeutic Horticulture Extension Master Gardeners of Chatham County and listen to how seeds turn into magical flowers\, followed by seed yoga! You will paint a planter pot and fill it with soil for your very own seeds! Take it home and watch it GROW! Special thanks to Chatham Community Library\, Goldston Public Library\, and Wren Memorial Library for their seed library-check it out! Open to all ages\, abilities\, and families. \nSupplies are included. This one-class session is instructed by Trish Hablutzel and Audrey Joy. Registration opens Mon\, Feb 23\, and closes Mon\, Mar 30. This event is held indoors at the new Chatham County Parks\, Recreation\, and Cultural Resources (CCPRCR) Arts Center\, located at 964 East Street\, Suite 105\, Pittsboro\, NC 23712\, on the backside of the building. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. DESCRIPTION:You do not want to miss The Inn at Celebrity Dairy’s annual Open Barn hosted every Saturday\, Feb 14-Apr 18\, 12pm-5pm. Explore the barn\, scratch a mama goat behind the ears\, and cuddle with some adorable baby goats. This is a great opportunity to learn more about small farm life\, with plenty of fun for the whole family. The price is $10 per person at the gate\, with kids ages 2 and under receiving free admission. The Inn offers homemade lunch and other goodies for sale (including vegetarian options) for an additional cost. \nOpen Barns are rain or shine\, so if it’s cold\, make sure to bundle up\, and if it’s wet\, wear your boots! Most of the event takes place under cover (and the baby goats will help keep you warm)! Free parking is available on-site. No pets are allowed. \nBook a stay at the inn to get in on all the baby goat fun\, including daily baby bottle feedings! 2-hour private barn tours are also available throughout the season (February-April 2026). Celebrity Dairy will guide you through how to feed the goats and answer all your goat-related questions. Bookings are $225 for groups of up to 15 and $15 per additional guest. SUMMARY:Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Lower Haw and NC State Parks for an Earth Day Canoe Paddle and Clean Up on Wed\, Apr 22\, 10am-2pm at the Lower Haw River State Natural Area. Paddle the Haw in a tandem canoe while cleaning up trash in the river along the way. After a short introduction\, the paddle trip will launch at Bynum Mill Access and take out about 3.4 miles downstream at the US 64 Haw River Canoe Access\, with a shuttle ride back to Bynum Mill Access.  \nBring your own snacks/lunch and drinking water for a short lunch stop along the river. NC State Parks will provide the canoes\, life jackets\, and shuttle ride. The estimated total time for the event\, including the introduction\, lunch stop\, paddling\, and the shuttle ride back\, is approximately 4 hours. DESCRIPTION:Join GreenWood Wrights’Fest for their annual Kick Back and Carve event\, hosted on Fri\, Apr 24-Sun\, Apr 26\, 2026\, at The Plant. This event is a relaxed\, friendly atmosphere with experienced and new carvers alike. New carvers are also encouraged to attend and can be connected with an experienced carver for guidance. GreenWood Wrights’Fest\, to be held later this year\, will offer more formal and diverse workshops and demonstrations. Learning to use hatchets and other tools with greenwood is one facet of hand-tool woodworking that fosters a deeper connection to the forest and the local community. \nAlong the way\, sip and shop the Chatham Beverage District\, part of the Chatham County Craft Beverages & Country Inns Trail\, with local beers from bmc brewing\, wines and ciders from Starrlight\, spirits from Fair Game\, and sake from Koshu. Local dining available at Kingston 99 Kitchen and Ta Contento. \nMore event details TBD. The event takes place outdoors at The Plant\, with free parking available on-site.
