DESCRIPTION:All events at Frog Hollow Outdoors. \nGuests must bring a flashlight to take on water\, and must pack and bring their own water and snack. Environmental factors may impact the plan for the day. Individual paddlers can register but a trip must have at least 4 registered guests for a trip to go. Private trips may be available by advance request (minimum rates apply). Gratuity for guides is always appreciated. \nPlease check out their FAQ to answer all your trip questions. \nEagle Paddles at Farrington Point\nJoin Frog Hollow Outdoors as they paddle the northern reaches of Jordan Lake in search of its majestic residents. All participants will be in solo Transitional/Day-Touring Kayaks or Sea Kayaks\, and they can not guarantee a bald eagle sighting. DESCRIPTION:Community members of all ages are invited to join the Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District for the second annual Creeks Greeks Field Day on Sat\, Apr 22\, 1pm-3:30pm at Boling Lane Park. This event is free and open to the public. The rain date for this event is Sun\, Apr 23. \nThe Town of Siler City installed Best Management Practices (BMPs) at Boling Lane Park such as wetlands and riparian buffers. Chatham Soil and Water Conservation staff will provide tours of the park where they will discuss the BMPs\, native vegetation\, and the overall benefits for the Loves Creek Watershed. \nAttendees will be able to participate in several interactive activities including: \n\nExploring some of the techniques used in stream health assessment and water quality testing in the creek running along Boling Lane Park.\nSearching for macroinvertebrate critters living in the creek.\nMeasuring chemical and physical parameters to assess the water quality.\nUsing an EnviroScrape watershed model to learn how nonpoint source pollutants affect waterways.\nLearning how to make small changes\, as individuals and collectively\, which add up to a large impact.\n\nEach of these activities will repeat every 45 minutes to give attendees a chance to visit them all. The Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District will distribute education activity books as well. Residents who wish to attend are asked to register online here. They will hike a section of the Lower Haw River State Natural Area located off US 15-501 upstream of the Bynum Dam. This is a relatively easy loop hike of about 1 mile that includes a stream crossing. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy water-resistant shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. \nAll ages are welcome. Pets are welcome but must be on leash at all times. Please note there are no restroom facilities at this location. This hike is free and open to the public with no registration required.Meet in the large parking lot on US 15-501 at the Haw River between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. If headed south on US 15-501 from Chapel Hill\, the parking lot is on the right before crossing the Haw River. If headed north on US 15-501 from Pittsboro\, make a U-turn after crossing the Haw River then head south on US 15-501 and the parking lot will be a short distance on the right.
