This also means that their class locations could be as close as 20 minutes\, or as far as 3.5 hours away. They can provide suggestions for camping or overnight accommodations for the farther away rivers. \nAges 12 and up are welcome. Pricing can be found on the website. The first day of the trip takes off from the Farrington Point Boat Ramp. \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO \n\nAll guests will be provided with a white water kayak\, a personal flotation device (life vest)\, a paddle\, a sprayskirt\, and a helmet. Students will begin in a controlled flatwater environment\, where they will be introduced to their whitewater kayak\, practice the wet-exit procedure\, and learn basic whitewater kayaking maneuvers\, as well as how to research paddling destinations and water levels. You will then have the opportunity to apply these skills in a real-life river setting\, learning and refining skills such as river reading\, eddy turns\, peel-outs\, ferrying\, attaining\, identifying hazards\, surfing basics\, and more. \nLocations for each day will be dependent on water levels and conditions. At the end of the first class day\, as a group\, you will decide on your location for the river run. Because the locations will vary\, this means for some sessions you may run short sections of river\, while in other sessions you will “park & play” to work the most appropriate rapids for the scope of this class. The recommended packing list can be found here. Guests will need to provide their own lunches. \nAdvanced online registration is required. Trips may be cancelled if the minimum group size of 2 is not met. Please note that environmental factors may impact the planned curriculum for the day. Gratuity for guides/instructors is always appreciated. \nParticipants must have taken at least one of the following: Kayak Basics\, Full Day Intro to Kayak\, or another outfitter’s equivalent class.\nEstimating the time spent on water for river trips can be a challenging task. Numerous variables can affect the duration of a trip. A few considerations for this are water level and flow\, group experience\, managing a capsized canoe or kayak\, and other relevant factors. Guests may be asked to assist with the shuttle. Shorter distance trips can take 3–5 hours\, longer distance trips can take 4–7 hours.\nParticipants during winter months must wear cold-weather paddling gear appropriate for the air and water temperatures. Frog Hollow may be able to provide cold-weather paddle clothing to those who request it.

SUMMARY:Kayak Basics at Weaver Creek
DESCRIPTION:Join Frog Hollow Outdoors for Kayak Basics at Weaver Creek on Sat\, Jul 19\, 11am-1pm at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area. If you’re new to kayaking or are interested in trying it out\, this class is a great place to start! They cover basics in kayak nomenclature\, wet-exit procedure\, and what we refer to as the “building-block strokes.” Participants will also be introduced\, through demonstration\, to some more advanced skills and strokes. Ages 10 and up are welcome. Pricing can be found on the website. Trips take off from the Weaver Creek Canoe Launch. \nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO \n\nAll guests will be provided with a kayak\, a personal flotation device (life vest)\, and a paddle.
