SUMMARY:Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Clapping Hands Farm for their Spring 2026 Homeschool Camp\, hosted every Thursday\, Mar 5-Apr 16\, 9am-3:30pm. Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). DESCRIPTION:You do not want to miss The Inn at Celebrity Dairy’s annual Open Barn hosted every Saturday\, Feb 14-Apr 18\, 12pm-5pm. Explore the barn\, scratch a mama goat behind the ears\, and cuddle with some adorable baby goats. This is a great opportunity to learn more about small farm life\, with plenty of fun for the whole family. The price is $10 per person at the gate\, with kids ages 2 and under receiving free admission. The Inn offers homemade lunch and other goodies for sale (including vegetarian options) for an additional cost. \nOpen Barns are rain or shine\, so if it’s cold\, make sure to bundle up\, and if it’s wet\, wear your boots! Most of the event takes place under cover (and the baby goats will help keep you warm)! Free parking is available on-site. No pets are allowed. \nBook a stay at the inn to get in on all the baby goat fun\, including daily baby bottle feedings! 2-hour private barn tours are also available throughout the season (February-April 2026). SUMMARY:Twilight Tours at Carolina Tiger Rescue
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Tiger Rescue’s popular Twilight Tours run from March through October (Daylight Saving Time) on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings. Tours are for adults only (guests ages 18 years and older). Twilight tours are a more intimate experience to meet CTR’s animals. During these tours\, guests are the only visitors in the sanctuary. The work of the day is done\, and the guests have the sanctuary all to themselves. Enjoy a quiet evening with the cats\, and you might just be lucky enough to be serenaded by the lions!  After all\, they are still wild animals!  As with all their tours\, they cannot guarantee what the cats will do\, but it’s hard to have a bad evening with the animals. \nThe 2026 schedule will begin on Sun\, Mar 8\, and run through Sat\, Oct 31. The timeframe provided in this event listing is an estimate – please check your tickets for the exact time slot. Your Twilight Tour will last for about 1 ½ hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Trained volunteer tour guides will walk you through the animal sanctuary. You will learn about the various species living at Carolina Tiger Rescue and the challenges they face in the wild\, as well as the difficulties they encounter in captivity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos\, but please note that there will be no physical contact with the animals. \nAdvance tickets are required for attendees (no walk-ins available). Tours are offered from April to October on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday evenings\, rain or shine. The cost is $32 per person\, and a maximum of 25 people may attend each tour. Tickets are available 8 weeks before your visit. \nSee more events at Carolina Tiger Rescue. \nBEFORE YOU VISIT \nThere are several things CTR would like you to know before booking your tour. Please reach the information below before purchasing your tickets: \n\nAll tours go out rain or shine. In the event of an extreme weather event\, Carolina Tiger Rescue will contact guests to inform them if a cancellation is necessary.\nPhotos may be taken during your tour after you’ve signed your visitor release.\nThe Education Center is wheelchair-accessible; however\, the gravel and grass paths may be more challenging to navigate for individuals with mobility impairments. Golf carts are available to assist guests as needed. If you have accessibility concerns\, please call 919.542.4648 to make arrangements before your visit.\nGPS may not provide accurate directions to CTR’s location. They recommend using the directions from their website to ensure a successful arrival.\nCTR does not allow outside animals anywhere on the property. Please leave your pets at home.

Clean Jordan Lake is joining a group of local organizations hosting cleanup events as part of Creek Week activities\, including the Chatham County\, Orange County\, and Keep Durham Beautiful. Assignments include: \n\nWalkers: You will be divided into groups at registration.\nBoaters: Boaters are needed to ferry some volunteers to their cleanup track and back\, and also to help haul trash back to the dumpster at the Corps Bulkhead. Boaters who wish to ferry volunteers only are welcome. They will loan 2-way radios to boaters for communication.\nKayakers: Come to the registration table at 8:45am to receive assignments from CJL leaders.\n\nThis year\, they continue their tradition of offering a Trash Treasure Hunt. Items marked by “CJL TTH” are shown to the track captain\, who will issue a CJL business card redeemable for a merchandise prize at the registration table. Coffee and pastries will be available during registration. \nAll volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and work gloves (provided or bring your own). They strongly recommend long pants\, a long-sleeve shirt\, and a hat. Shoreline Track Captains will be present to guide volunteers. Volunteers will be provided with bags\, trash grabbers\, first-aid kits\, water\, and gloves\, if needed. SUMMARY:Tobacco Road Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Tobacco Road Marathon and Half-Marathon feature over 20 miles of the American Tobacco Trail (including 4 miles of Chatham County\, NC). Up to twenty percent of their runners qualify for the Legendary Boston Marathon. Less experienced runners benefit\, too\, as the fast and flat energy-absorbing course and ideal spring temperatures make it an excellent venue for your next personal record!  \nThe 16th Annual Tobacco Road Marathon and Half Marathon is Sun\, Mar 14\, 2027. As in prior years\, both races will begin at 7am on Brooks Park Lane and head towards the entrance of Thomas Brooks Park. The first and last 2.5 miles of both races are on paved roadways. The ATT surface is compacted screenings\, with some sections combining this with asphalt. \nWhether you are participating or cheering for a friend or family member\, there is plenty to do in our area – local eateries\, places to stay\, craft beverage tastings and tours\, wineries\, nature activities\, golf\, shopping\, and more. Take advantage of all that Chatham County has to offer!  \nThe Tobacco Road Marathon is organized by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing partner charities with financial assistance by channeling passionate runners everywhere\, particularly those in the North Carolina Triangle area\, into a powerful force for good. Over the years\, the event has raised over $1.7 million for charities\, including the American Red Cross\, JDRF\, Hope for the Warriors\, and Triangle Rails to Trails Conservancy (ATT is a Rails to Trails project).  \nThe inaugural event was held Mar 21\, 2010\, with over 3\,400 registered runners representing 39 states. Approximately 4\,000 runners and thousands of spectators will attend this year’s event. In 2014\, Runner’s World Magazine named the Tobacco Road Marathon one of the top ten best new marathons.

Clapping Hands is an arts and nature camp and retreat with a special love for community. Our homeschool camp workshops include visual arts\, crafts\, music\, theater\, and dance\, as well as engineering\, building\, nature exploration\, game creation\, and more! \nGENERAL SCHEDULE \n\nCamp opens with games\, Morning Circle\, and morning workshops in focus groups. Each session will have at least two Morning Workshop Focus Groups; campers choose one Focus Group to join for the entire 6-week session.\nLunch.\nAnything Goes and all-camp activities in the afternoon. Activities are different each day\, are based on campers’ requests\, and include opportunities to explore both focus groups. In other words\, if you are interested in both Focus Groups\, you can sign up for one of them for the morning and still be able to “taste” the others during Anything Goes.\nBuddy Group check-in and a Closing Circle before departure.\n\nSee this page for this program’s Focus Groups. \nDETAILS AND LOGISTICS \nCamp is $400 per child\, with full and partial scholarships available. Homeschool Camp serves children and teens ages 8-16. They accept older campers who are interested in their Focus Group topics. They also accept younger campers on a case-by-case basis. Parents\, adults\, and older teens are also needed as Counselors or Volunteers. Parent volunteers at Homeschool camp do so much to make this program fantastic! \nCamp at Clapping Hands Farm takes place outdoors for the most part. They generally run camp in all weather conditions unless there are hazardous driving conditions or it is cold AND wet. In other words\, if it’s raining and 70 degrees\, they will have camp. If it’s 30 degrees and not raining\, we will have camp. But if it’s 40 degrees and raining\, they will skip camp and use their weather make-up day (Thu\, Apr 23). DESCRIPTION:Join Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) for Understanding Organic Inputs & Supplies on Wed\, Mar 25\, 10am-2pm. This workshop will begin with a tour and exploration of Country Farm and Home\, led by owner Melinda Fitzgerald. You will discuss soil amendments\, pest control products\, tools\, tarps/row covers/fabrics\, irrigation components\, and anything else you find on the shelves. This workshop will also discuss cover crops\, strawberries\, potatoes\, alliums\, sweet potatoes\, and other items available at Country Farm and Home. \nAfter a lunch break\, you will travel just down the road to the Central Carolina Community College Student Organic Farm\, where Farm Manager Farrell Moose will give you a tour and presentation on amending soils based on your soil test results. Lunch will not be provided. Pack a lunch or check out the spots in Pittsboro. This event is free to attend\, but registration is required; please register by Sun\, Mar 22\, 2026. \nThis work is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). SUMMARY:Bald Eagle Search Paddle with Two Sisters Adventure Company
DESCRIPTION:Join Two Sisters Adventure Company for a Bald Eagle Search Paddle at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area\, hosted on select dates throughout 2026. Jordan Lake is one of the best Bald Eagle viewing locations in the region. You will paddle past multiple nesting areas in search of our majestic national bird. While sightings are not guaranteed\, Bald Eagles are most common in the areas they visit. Your guide will help you identify and answer questions about Bald Eagles and other birds in the area. All participants should have basic kayaking skills\, due to the duration on the water this trip is considered intermediate. Pre-registration is required. Participants will launch from the Farrington Point Access. The trip will last approximately 4 hours. Trips will take place on the following dates: \n\nThu\, Mar 26\, 9am-1pm.\nSun\, Apr 26\, 8:30am-12:30pm.\nSat\, May 9\, 8am-12pm.\nSat\, May 30\, 8am-12pm.\nSun\, Jun 7\, 8am-12pm.\n\nTwo Sisters works with all guests to make trips as accessible as possible. Please contact them with any specific accessibility requests so they can ensure they have all the necessary equipment and staff. Free parking is available at the Farrington Point Canoe Launch. No pets are allowed. The cost is $60 per person\, and pre-registration is required. Single-person kayaks are provided.
