Whether you’re tuning up for a spring half-marathon or the Tobacco Road Marathon\, participation is a great way to help the children of Chatham County. Prizes will be awarded for age groups and costumes – don’t forget to wear green! Following the race\, enjoy the day in Chatham County\, exploring our attractions\, restaurants\, and breweries. \nEVENT DETAILS \nBeginning at the ALL NEW Chatham YMCA (120 Parkland Drive\, Pittsboro)\, you’ll race through Chatham Park. Runners will follow greenways\, sidewalks\, and shoulders. The 5K and 10K will share the course with 5K runners\, turning around slightly earlier. Walkers are welcome. Pets are not allowed on the race course. Baby strollers/joggers are permitted\, but for the safety of all participants\, please start at the back behind the runners and walkers. \nRace day parking will be available at the Chatham YMCA. Event organizers request that participants carpool if possible. Overflow parking is available in Pittsboro’s public lots – please do not park in shopping center lots. Race fees include your Hipster Leprechaun T-shirt and support for a great cause. The preserve will be filled with the songs of resident birds and early migrators as you discover the first blooms of spring on the cool slopes of the Deep and Rocky Rivers. You will hike over hilly terrain for about 2 miles as you immerse yourself in the pleasures of early spring. They recommend that you bring binoculars if you have them\, but they will have a few to borrow if you don’t. \nThis is a free event\, but registration is required.
