DESCRIPTION:The 38th Annual Goldston Old Fashion Day is Sat\, Oct 11\, 9am-4pm. The one-day street festival\, sponsored by the Goldston Lions Club\, features local arts\, crafts\, pottery\, jewelry\, live music\, food vendors\, and a petting zoo. There will also be a display of classic cars and tractors. The food court is located in the same area\, featuring a covered seating area.  \nMain Street will be closed to traffic from United Fire & Safety to the old BB&T Bank. The old bank parking lot will have classic cars and trucks. C-Cape will also be on hand\, displaying their antique power equipment (tractors\, engines\, and more). Limited seating is available – bringing a lawn chair is recommended. \nBe sure to stop by the Chatham County Historical Association (CCHA) tent to share your stories and memories of the Goldston area. Goldston is over 100 years old and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. SUMMARY:Come Out and Play Sculpture Show
DESCRIPTION:Dozens of artists\, creating in a myriad of media\, are represented in this annual Come Out and Play Sculpture Show\, now in its 24th year. The event takes place on a 17-acre homestead and is a gift from hosts to guests and artists. Artists do not pay a participation fee and keep all proceeds from their sales (many of the works on display are for sale). There are some out-of-state artists\, but most are local to North Carolina. Each reception is filled with fantastic art and local vendors\, free food and drink from the artists and hosts\, visits with the horses and pigs\, and live music from the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op. \nThe opening reception for 2025 is Sat\, Aug 23 and Sun\, Aug 24\, 12pm until dark. Additional receptions are hosted on the following Saturdays: Aug 30\, Sep 6\, Sep 13\, and Sep 20\, 12pm until dark. Events are free. This event is family-friendly and pet-friendly (please keep all dogs on a leash). Rates for weekend and single-day admission\, as well as camping\, can be found here. \nDetails for this year’s festival are TBD\, but there are always workshops\, showcases\, dances\, contests (including the Hoppin’ John Cook-Off)\, family activities\, and\, of course\, great music! Hosted annually at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center. \nPETS \nBringing your dog to Hoppin’ John is highly discouraged. However\, your furry friends are allowed if they are contained on a leash at all times. You must pay the dog admission price ($10) for each dog. SUMMARY:Come Out and Play Sculpture Show
DESCRIPTION:Dozens of artists\, creating in a myriad of media\, are represented in this annual Come Out and Play Sculpture Show\, now in its 24th year. The event takes place on a 17-acre homestead and is a gift from hosts to guests and artists. Artists do not pay a participation fee and keep all proceeds from their sales (many of the works on display are for sale). There are some out-of-state artists\, but most are local to North Carolina. Each reception is filled with fantastic art and local vendors\, free food and drink from the artists and hosts\, visits with the horses and pigs\, and live music from the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op. \nThe opening reception for 2025 is Sat\, Aug 23 and Sun\, Aug 24\, 12pm until dark. Additional receptions are hosted on the following Saturdays: Aug 30\, Sep 6\, Sep 13\, and Sep 20\, 12pm until dark. Events are free.
