Campers will participate in animal care in a sanctuary setting\, practice climate-friendly cooking with a vegan chef\, develop leadership skills\, engage in therapeutic art practices\, and build community with their staff\, volunteers\, animal residents\, and one another. \nThe cost is FREE\, and includes daily vegan snacks and lunches; applications are required. DESCRIPTION:Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge is thrilled to offer their first-ever LEAP (Leaders for Ethics\, Animals\, and the Planet) Summer Camp\, held Mon\, Jul 20-Thu\, Jul 24\, 8am-4pm. A compassionate alternative to 4-H\, this FREE Summer Camp for incoming 9th-12th graders offers community building\, leadership training\, hands-on learning\, and quality time getting to know their animal residents. Participants will also learn all about the Refuge’s pioneering approach to designing and building animal habitats\, which they call Animal-Centered Design. Campers will participate in animal care in a sanctuary setting\, practice climate-friendly cooking with a vegan chef\, develop leadership skills\, engage in therapeutic art practices\, and build community with their staff\, volunteers\, animal residents\, and one another. \nThe cost is FREE\, and includes daily vegan snacks and lunches; applications are required. Not all vendors are there every week\, but some vendors are there every week\, year-round. Each market features live music. Vendors include Celebrity Dairy\, In Good Heart Farm\, and bmc brewing.
