He is the most successful novelist of his time\, winner of the Nobel Prize in literature\, a public man whose private life remains secret. He is expected to lead the condemnation of Hitler\, whom he underestimates. His oldest daughter and son\, leaders of Bohemianism and of the anti-Nazi movement\, share lovers. He flees Germany for Switzerland\, France\, and\, ultimately\, America\, living first in Princeton and then in Los Angeles. In this “exquisitely sensitive” (The Wall Street Journal) novel\, Tóibín has crafted “a complex but empathetic portrayal of a writer in a lifelong battle against his innermost desires\, his family\, and the tumultuous times they endure” (Time)\, and “you’ll find yourself savoring every page” (Vogue).

It is $50 for babies and toddlers under 2. Ages 2-8 and their parents are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Community Organizing for Racial Equity (CORE) welcomes you to participate in their Annual Juneteenth Black Arts Festival on Sat\, Jun 20\, 2026\, 2pm-6pm at the Chatham County Fairgrounds. Since 2018\, the Juneteenth event has undergone significant transformation\, growing from its initial location\, which accommodated 100 people\, to one that now draws over 3\,000 attendees from across the Triangle region. \nJuneteenth Black Arts Festival is a dedicated space of reverence for the impact of Black arts and culture on American culture. They commit to offering an opportunity for Black artists and entrepreneurs to build relationships and increase their exposure across communities. They honor the creative genius and spirit of excellence that prevails within the Black community because they recognize barriers that remain in place today\, excluding them from mainstream business opportunities. \nAll are welcome to this free community event. They have quite a festival planned for this year’s celebration\, which will highlight Black artists\, both local and from afar; educational opportunities about Juneteenth\, the history of the celebration\, and the resilience of Black culture through Black arts; and a vision for liberation. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment\, art\, a Black business expo\, food trucks\, a heritage walk\, and kids’ activities\, all while challenging stereotypes and building pride in the dynamic heritage of Black Americans and American culture. SUMMARY:Toys and Games Camp at Clapping Hands Farm
DESCRIPTION:The Toys and Games Camp at Clapping Hands Farm hosted Mon\, Jun 29-Fri\, Jul 3\, 9am-5pm is a joyous week of romping and running\, creative cooperative games\, and just pure playful fun\, including some traditional favorite games (yes – capture the flag!). Your children will spend the week entertaining themselves and one another using simple materials and raw imagination. This year’s featured toy-making projects have not yet been selected\, but previous years have included everything from traditional folk toys to hydraulic robots. \nIn the afternoon\, they have “Anything Goes” choice time\, where campers help design and can request or lead any of their favorite activities. This will include some of their favorite toy-making projects from years past: parachutes\, stomp rockets\, hula hoops\, puppets\, and puppet theaters are all on the list. For those who enjoy running around more\, there will be plenty of running game options in the afternoon as well! \nThe cost is $350 per child. Ages 7-13 are welcome.
